Walker & Hawkes - Kids Derby Tweed Flat Cap Hunting Shooting Countrywear Hat - Dark Sage

My sister bought me a flat cap for a laugh when I turned...ahem a certain middle older age, but I loved it (& anyway flat caps are for all ages!!) so the joke was on her!That cap didn't fit, so I went in search of one that did (& have now ended up with several!) starting in M&S, unfortunately my head is generally between their sizes M (57-58cms) or L (59-60cms) so I have to try several to find one that comes up a bit large or small for its size to fit well. The sizing on these particular Walker&Hawkes caps does come in as several other reviews have stated a bit small, to that end I ordered a L...but that was too tight & is awaiting return but I then ordered an XL straight after & it fits perfectly. The caps are well made, have a solid feel/weight (but not too heavy) to them & nicely lined; it's quite Spring like now outside but I know these caps will keep your head warm in the colder season!I have spent years wearing beanies so have got used to my ears & back of head being covered, what I love about these caps is they have a fairly generous back so cover a large area at the back of my head & quite a deep fit so if I pull it right down it can fit over the top of my ears if I wanted! I'm not sure how much water they could repel on a rainy day as I've not had the opportunity to try it (in any case I have other solutions for my balding head on rainy days !!). The colour of the light sage appears to be pretty accurate to the ones pictured!In summary I'd say these are wonderful heavy duty caps & deliver exactly what the description states, just be aware they do come in smaller than the claimed size so order a size up to be sure! What a superb, quality product. Extremely well made, comfortable and a great barrier between the cold rain and my bald head. It is water proof - well tested. The only problem I have is that I do not want to take it off! I’ve bought other ‘tweed’ caps and until now, the tweed seems slightly loose and frayed, The Walker & Hawkes tweed is superb, smooth, neat with a great finish, perfectly stitched. I bought the ‘light sage’ first as it is a great colour that pretty much goes with anything. I then bought the ‘dark sage’ and then the ‘brown’. Now I can’t choose between them! What I can say is that they are all identical in shape, fit and comfort. To me that’s impressive no variance between them. That’s good product quality in my view.I will be buying the jackets to go with the hats now, especially after reading the reviews. Well done Walker & Hawkes – a quality British Co.

I am a "Northern chap" and always wear a flat cap. My Grandson (very young) is Canadian and they wear those silly caps over there so i bought this to take over for him last year when i visited. I was very pleased with the quality of material and the stitching, as good as any top quality one you would get at a Game Fair..Apparently he has worn it loads of times and whilst he has now outgrown it my Son & Daughter in Law gifted it to another little one and there is now a que amongst their friends as to who gets it next.

Good quality cap with around 60% wool and teflon coated, so you can wear it in the rain. Nice colour and style. Looks the business. Bit disappointing that there is no makers label inside. I bought a Large and XL as many reviews said they are small fitting and that is correct. Kept the XL and sent the Large back. I normally take a 58cm hat and the XL is supposed to be 60cm, so make sure you go up at least one size or do what I did and order two to try on.

I've just received this flat cap (3XL) and am disappointed to find that it is very noticeably smaller than the 2XL I already have. Also, the material has a rougher finish & feel than my 2XL. I wanted a roomier cap than my 2XL and obviously to end up with a smaller cap with inferior material is not what I was expecting!I've only had the 2XL since 31st of December, so I don't think it would be a change in the manufacturing process; it must be poor quality control.

I chose the size that fits kids up to 8 and I couldn’t get it on my 5 year old twins heads. Very very small fit and I had to send them back. The quality of the cap itself was good however.

Lovely hat. Very well made. My Son now 5 has lived in them since 6 months old.
