Really Nothing New
This is a short book and a fast read. There's really nothing wrong with the book, but there's nothing particularly good about it, either. Anyone who's ever owned a blog or an online business, or even anyone who's ever pursued an offline career, as I have, knows they must cultivate the three habits the author skims over in her book. And I did mean to write "skims over." She doesn't go into any depth in telling the reader how to cultivate these essential habits if they are having trouble doing so. Still, the three chapters that deal with these habits are interesting and contain a few good takeaways. Most of the book, for me at least, is filler, and therein lies its problem. The author spends most of the book "interviewing" successful bloggers about what they did and didn't do to become successful, and some of the answers are very strange, to put it mildly. There is really no agreement among these success stories on what a beginning - or even an advanced - blogger should, or should not, do. I did read all the interviews, but I didn't like them and didn't learn anything from them other than the fact that we are all different and need and respond to different things, which I knew already. For me, they simply made a short book not quite as short as it would have been otherwise. To sum things up:Are you a good writer? If you aren't, don't even consider blogging.Do you enjoy writing? Again, if you don't, don't even consider blogging. Are you passionate about something? Books, skin care, opera, wine, green building practices, etc.? Figure out how to blog about your passion. Finally, buy BLOGGING FOR DUMMIES. Even it might not be definitive, but it'll be more helpful and comprehensive than this book.Good luck!

Easy-to-read, Enjoyable Peek into Successful Blogging Businesses
So often I have trouble finding the time to read more than an article at a time. What is so terrific about this book? I was hooked right away!Sally's writing style is so personable and straight-forward, that I felt like we were just chatting. I didn't even realize how long I had been sitting in one spot reading! If you're looking for a quick-moving read and are interested in building a successful blog, this one is a great choice.Speaking to the information inside the book, I really did learn a lot about blogging as a business. The book is organized into the three main categories of what you need to do to be a successful blogger. After the main categories are laid out, Sally shares interviews with bloggers in the 6-figure income category. It's within the framework of those main categories where each indidual blogger's path or business model differs.Reading the stories and tips from successful people is a great way to learn about success. And these people don't try to hide what helped them become successful. This book is terrific way to get a look into some successful businesses and blogs. Many of the people interviewed were already people that I read on a regular basis, so it was fun to read their stories from the interview perspective.I really did enjoy this new book! Although I'm not brand new to blogging, I have recently started (another) new blog, so I followed the exercises along with the book. I did add some clarity to my own vision as I worked through them.Every little bit of clarity along the way is meaningful...so I am grateful for that as well!

THOROUGH BLOGGING ORIENTATION UNDER ONE ROOF
This is a very detailed and informative book, featuring almost labyrinthine information about succeeding in blogging. There is just about everything you want to know, and some things you don't.Author Sally Miller, to put everybody on track at the outset, states that 85% of bloggers with pro aspirations are doomed to penurious obscurity from the first time they touch their keyboards, irrevocably consigned, regardless of their efforts or perseverance, to floating anonymously, microscopically, and finally, non-existent in the grand ether. This 15 out of 100 blog-starters succeeding is a challenge I imposed on myself a while back. As much as I'm still learning, I would truly hate to be breaking the shell again, the eggtooth stage.Seventeen six-figure bloggers were interviewed, and, although they took different paths, 3 main traits of their overall success emerged after Miller collated all 17.1. Act With A Purpose2. Create Systems For Success3. Believe In Yourself And Take Responsibility For Your SuccessFrom these numerous case studies, Miller has supplied several ways a person (the ones who survive the 85% shakeout) can monetize blogs---Affiliate Marketing, product creation, Virtual Assistant services, web design, etc. and this preliminary information can lead larval blog proprietors to further research the specialties of their choice.A very comprehensive guide. 4 out 5 stars.

Valuable book wherever you are in your blogging journey
I've read a lot of how-to books over the past few years that I’ve been blogging, and this is perhaps the first book I’ve come across that analysed what successful bloggers actually do (at a high level at least). Even if you’ve been blogging for years, there are some useful nuggets of wisdom. Indeed, I’m considering whether to start a secondary blog as a result, putting all the advice I’ve learned into practice!A few things to keep in mind: this is not a book to sit down and read in one sitting. Take your time to actually think about and answer the questions it poses. This will help make sure you’re building from a strong foundation from the very start. Likewise, do not expect a get-rich-quick scheme: it’s very clear that it takes time to build up to the level these bloggers are working at.There are a few things that I would have liked to have seen in more detail. Specifically 1) how these bloggers are actually making their money; is it through affiliate links, courses, ads, etc.? It didn’t seem that many were actually making money through writing. And 2) how were they able to grow their business if they were not doing it full-time? While some specifically mentioned dealing with small children while blogging, it’s not clear to me how there are enough hours in a week/mental energy to go around to juggle a full-time day job, blogging, and any other business activities with actually living life. Getting to the point where you can afford to hire someone to help, which is discussed in the book, is glossed over. Is it a matter of relying on savings or a partner’s income, or moving back in with parents and living on ramen noodles? I would find an honest discussion of this part of the journey to be useful.Despite these quibbles, I also want to add that this is a good book even if you have no desire to monetise your blog or make it your primary income stream. After all, having the opportunity to hear from 17 people who have made a success of an activity is not to be turned down! It will help you to clarify your vision, avoid making some of the same mistakes, and inspire you to take action.

It's Like More Than One Book
I'm in the midst of reading/doing everything I can to take my blog to the next level. And The Essential Habits of 6-Figure Bloggers gave me a fresh perspective. The beauty of this book is it's like 17 books in one if you take the time to go through the book and study the blogs of the bloggers interviewed.I also appreciated the book recommendations given by each blogger and will be adding even more books to my list.

Great inspirational stories.
As a new blogger, I found this book very motivational. Reading success stories and having tips from bloggers who make a full time income from their sites has been an amazing resource. The information is broken down well and it was easy to read the book over the course of a weekend.
