Nice kit, but don't count on the paint...
I bought this as a Christmas present for my son. Unfortunately when we came to try and build it a couple of weeks ago, we found that most of the paints were totally solid. I have tried to bring them back to life with some water, but at the time of writing, the only usable paint is the black paint. I guess this means will need to source some paints elsewhere. On the plus side I would like to recommend that anyone buying this kit watch the really good YouTube video by Airfix on building and painting this kit.

Just ok as beginner kit
Good molding and nice recessed panel lines, however there are some fit issues, particularly with the cockpit and joining of two fuselage halves. No problem for an advance modeler but would give difficulty to a beginner/young modeler. Also, paints were completely dried out and useless.

Paints came drya
I am happy with the model itself but the green and brown paint canister lids came loose and the paint within was dry upon arrival. Fortunately I have alternative acrylic paints I can use but this is quite disappointing

Decent, except for fitting
Compared to other Airfix kits I’ve built, this Spitfire was decent I guess. Detail on the parts were great, but the fitting wasn’t that good. Multiple instances I had to sand down the joint to make it fit which really ruined the kit for me. If done correctly though, the kit could potientally be good. Only bad thing really is fitting.

Almost for beginners
A wonderful model, my only complaint was the overbearing requirement of sanding down and editing different parts. Although this is standard for most models, I do not believe it categorizes this spitfire as a beginners model, however, not quite intermediate. In conclusion, buyer beware!

Paint dried up
Was unable to paint the plane as all but one of the paints dried up. Apart from that the plane is great.

Good fit/finish.
The new Airfix kits are very nice. They fit together nicely.

Great kit
I assembled this kit using the materials that came with it, and it was a pretty good model. The Spitfire is an iconic plane and in 1/72 form, it will not take up too much space. The kit is not terribly overpriced, considering that it comes with paints and a brush, which many people have to by separately from the model. My only complaint is that the paint for the underside of the Spitfire is slightly too yellow, as opposed to a creamy white or light grey.

Great kit of the classic Spitfire
Having tried model building for the first time in years, I thoroughly enjoyed putting this kit together. This is a well designed and detailed kit of an early Spitfire. The tooling has been updated in the past few years, which has resulted in clean panel lines, rivit holes, minimal flashing and well fitting parts. For beginners who won't be using airbrushes, the paints are decent Humbrol acrylics which when thinned down, can be applied reasonably well. The colours seem to be well matched to the plane. The kit includes almost everything that is needed to build the kit however, you may want to ensure that you've got a craft knife and/or a nail file to clean up the edges of a parts where taken off the sprue. This is probably the best kit to start with as a beginner of the Airfix range. There are a few videos on youtube going through the build process with some goot tips. Highly reccomended.

Small
Much smaller a model than expected.

Nice looking kit, great price
This arrived on time, and undamaged. The instructions are clear and concise, and easy to follow. The paints were good, although a couple of coats were required for one or two of the colours. The only niggle I had is that the wings did not fit the fuselage section. I had to remove at least 2-3mm per side, before it would fit properly. This was fine for me, but a beginner would have been totally lost. This is the only reason I gave it four instead of five stars, as when it's finished it does look really good.

very nice model!
my first model ever made (with paint) and all you need is in the box! the paint is not the best at first, some of them looked waterd down but the result is nice after couple of hands! the Glue is Super strong cement! i actualy got also another model and i still use the same glue because this one is better and faster!some part require some sanding but no problem!
