Very detailed and informative yet still easy to read

It is a great book for all betta owners. It gives great information for all aspects of betta keeping. It also has many chapters for understanding the art of betta keeping. I think this book is great for beginners to people who have owned many bettas! ☺️

Although I've been raising Bettas off and on since the 60's, I decided to do a little bit of catch up research before jumping in again. I feel that this book was the perfect resource for that goal. Well written text that is easy to follow. If there's ever a new edition, I would like to request at least an appendix listing conversions from Metric to US measurements for those of us "across the pond" to use. I've highlighted many helpful hints in the book and made notes for the Metric conversions. A good reference for anyone wishing to keep and or raise Bettas.

This book goes into detail about betta genetics and how to breed them. I was disappointed to see such a expansive section covering “fighting”. That is why I deducted one star. I don’t appreciate anyone educating others on how to perform animal cruelty. Messed up. Shame on the author. Otherwise a decent book. But definitely too expensive for the length of the material covered.

This was a great read. Learned so much from this book. Can't wait to try my first spawn. Want to try the suggested info on breeding

A very thorough guide that answers most questions one could have about keeping Betta fish and is a one-of-a-kind book.I appreciated that the author doesn't run away from difficult/controversial questions answering how he handles the situation.It is to be noted that the author is an accomplished biologist which reflects positively on the book despite it being quite easy to read.I recommend the book to anyone consodering keeping Bettas.

A fantastic book! I couldn't put it down while I was reading it. This is one of the FEW betta books that is not simply rehashing general information about bettas. Clearly extensive online research went into this book, and it nicely summarizes specific aspects of the hobby. My only (slight) criticism is that it was very text heavy and could have used more pictures or graphs/tables to enhance the written content, however it is completely understandable that more could not have been incorporated - the book is already the size of a Bible! (Please see photo for size!) It is very well-written and simple to follow. If you want to really know the history behind bettas, then this is your book!

I am so happy with this book. It is one of the best betta books that I have read. It is so packed with fantastic information.

I have been keeping aquarium fish for more than 45 years. This book about bettas in indeed a betta bible, the information is given in a way that it is pleasure to read the book, it is very easy to understand what the autor explains, and plus that the book has a scientific background specially about genetics.
