Too cute
This is a simple, beautiful illustrated book. Nice look at Kenya culture and it’s people, very community oriented. Loved going through the village and market place. Learned more Swahili words too. A good book for teaching little ones the importance of sharing , nice Kenya pancake recipe and information about Kenya.

Beautiful story of sharing and community for any young child. A great grandma book.
Beautiful story of a poor African woman and her son, of generosity and community. The tale and pictures are magical. The study info was helpful to understanding life in Kenya and the definitions and pronunciations of Kiswahili words were most helpful. I was looking forward to sharing this with our grandson but the copy sent to me had a name and phone number written on the first page.I would like to exchange my copy for an unused one. Thank you.

Great story and message!
This is a fun and unique story with a great message. The kids loved the bright, beautiful pictures and the build up of the story. At first they were concerned as things built up but happy and relieved at the end. It gives the opportunity to talk about a wealth/abundance mindset vs a poverty/lack mindset. The language and cultural background at the end are great as well.

Even better
My daughters and I saw a theatrical production of the book and then decided to buy it. It was out of stock or on back order just about everywhere I looked. I was bummed. I placed the order through Amazon anyway and hoped it wouldn't be too long. Thankfully, it wasn't long after I placed the order that I received notification that the book was on the way. So glad because my girls really love this book and it has even more detail than the play we saw. A great book about community and faith!

My Children Enjoyed This Book!
I had a hard time pronouncing some names and words, but that did not stop us from loving this book! My 8 year old especially loved it. I love how it tells us about life in Kenya and includes a pancake recipe. Simply well done.

We the story and learning about Kenya too
We love this book and are giving it to all our kid friends! It is a sweet stone soup like theme. My 2.5 year old never gets tired of it and especially loves it when we're eating pancakes :-)In the back are fun facts about Kenya, the animals there and a few words in Kiswahili that he likes to hear about too.

Very nice and positive attitude in life. Good graphics, colours and story
Fantastic joyful book. It talks about how a generouse attitude can help you ending having more in life...friend , food, company...There is also an appendix with explanation of some words in african and ways of living of their culture.Vivid colours puts you in a good mood. It is one of my two years old favourite without a doubt. It can be for much older children as it is in a way a folk tail so could be for anyone...except teenagers.

A little goes a long way
This is a true to life African story, I lived in Zimbabwe as a child for 12 years , and Africans especially poor folk ALWAYS share what they have. The orphans in Uganda to whom I 'm sending this book will love it.

O livro é em inglês.
Acho que fui desatenta, mas coloquei o título em português na busca. Veio em inglês e tive que devolver.

Great story for 6-7 year olds
My class of Year 2 children loved this story and did a lot of work based on it. Some said they liked it because it was about pancakes & they like pancakes, others liked it due to the differences they could see in their culture and that of Adika. Highly recommend this story.
