Not for young children
I got these for my 3 year old thinking they would be a cute addition to her cars and trains as she loves Thomas. I didn't expect them to be so small and so poorly suited to young children. Each train looks and feels like a toy you might get from a cracker, not robust at all and very cheap and plastic. The wheels on these rotate so you can push them along the floor but they feel so flimsy I don't trust that they wont fall off and become a major choking hazard.There is a small button on the top of each and if you press it the body of the train lights up for approx 3 secs. It lights to the colour of the train; we have a purple train that lights purple, and red that lights red. The purple one flashes when you press it, while the red one has a continuous light for the 3 secs.We have had to put these away as I'm not happy with my 3 year old playing with them. I would only consider these for an older child aged 6+ and only in a household where there are no younger children.

We had an addiction to thomas minis for a while - so we have amassed a fairly sizeable collection of them. I think we probably have 50 or more. They're great, fairly well priced, and you can look up the codes on the packaging to make sure you dont get duplicates unlike things like collector cards (some kids get uptight about these things).These ones are different. They take batteries. I understand the need to come up with new products and they are cool, but the battery thing is causing a lot of trouble..they go flat, they can be swallowed (though its obviously screwed in). I think some of the confusion is with the product listing itself, in one place I see 3+ months but it's clearly intended for 3+ years. I would definitely say it would only be suitable for children who are past the putting things in their mouth phase which can vary vastly.All that said - these are cool. And if you have a thomas mini fan too, then these will be appreciated.

As of the date of this review, there are 66 of these Thomas & Friends Minis available. If you're a collector, I'm sure you'll acquire them over time but if you want to give them to a little one who like Thomas, then I fear the recipient will be disappointed.The two in my pack are Emily and James, and whilst they light up with the aid of a button on top of the cab (actually they flash a few times) that's all they do. The committed Thomas freak, and many are adults, which is why the age range is 3-99, will probably think these are great. I doubt anyone else will, so I'm hedging my bets and leaving it between those two camps.

Very small trains, with unimpressive lights
These are two very small trains - 4.5cm long, 3cm high, 1.5cm wide. Their unique selling point is that they light up and flash when you press a button on their rooves. The flashing lasts three of four seconds, and changes each time, from a slow pulsing flash to a more regular on/off.To be honest, it is pretty unimpressive, and my young son feels the same way.The wheels go round on the train when you push it on hard floor. They have connectors on front and back, so can link up, but are pretty disappointing compared with the larger Thomas Trackmaster trains.

These are a lot smaller than I thought they’d be but still very cute with good detailPress the button to get flashing lights, which stay on for a few seconds so the batteries should last a while.I would hesitate giving these to a toddler due to the size and the small batteries, which are behind a cover that requires a screwdriver but still not very secure.I’m struggling to see what age range these would appeal to due to their dinky size and nothing to do with them other than make them flash.Limited appeal but pocket money price.Hope you found my review helpful
