This turned out great. I put it on front of a historical brick house. I like how there is no lock feature as it is easy to get out the mail. This mailbox is not covered by a roof or awning so I was concerned about mail getting wet. There is a metal plate that can be attached with double stick foam/tape but based on a few comments it sounded like there was still an issue with mail getting wet (small gap b/c foam tape is about 1/16" thick). So I decided to try using a magnetic vent cover, which I got at Home Depot (pack of 3, 8"x15" for under $5). I just cut the magnetic sheet down so that it fit into the front of the mail box. Since the mailbox is metal the magnetic sheet stuck immediately, snug to the mailbox and completely covered all the holes. My mail has been very dry and we've had heavy rain. NOTE: This works really well for a black mailbox since the magnetic side of the vent cover is black.

This mailbox replaced an identical one that we've had for 11 years. It held up well, especially since we're in a wet location, but became weathered after so many years. We ordered the same one because we liked it and also because the installation was very easy since we didn't have to make new screw holes in our siding. Handsome mailbox!

Very sturdy mailbox. The only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars is that the privacy insert does not stay on with the two-sized tape provided. (Perhaps this is because my mailbox gets full morning sun and is exposed to the elements on an uncovered porch.) I am going to buy some more tape, put on longer strops to increase the bond strength, and see if I can get it to stay on. Other than this short-coming, it is extremely well made for the price and looks great. I installed it without the rungs that came with it (to hold a paper or magazines) because my letter carrier just puts everything in the box. Holds a good bit of mail without the lid gapping open- even on days when magazines arrive! Would strongly recommend.

Very nice, spacious, and solidly built mailbox. In addition to the box itself, you get a privacy insert that blocks the cutouts (it is also black so no "window" effect and magazine hooks (neither of which we installed). No mounting hardware but we were able to easily find what we needed - depends on your siding. Only problem was that the lower mounting bolt holes aren't accessible through the grid on the front, but still doable, sort of barely. Looks great up, and the size is nice and the fact that it is vertical, makes the process of mail removal easy for you. We left for a few day trip and the mailbox handled it all pretty well :-) Finally, a nice touch - a rubber stopper - you do not hear the loud bang every time your mailman is opening/closing the lid. I got many compliments from my house guests - it is a clean simple and classy looking very functional mailbox.

We had to return the box. The website description states - in two places - that the box is 3.5 inches deep. This is not entirely accurate - and for us, was critical. The box itself IS 3.5 inches deep. But, the lid closes onto the box at an angle. The result is that the depth of the UNIT (not the box) is 4 inches. So what is a half-inch?Well, we weren't mounting this mailbox on the house. We were mounting it on our front door - and using the box to cover the mail slot that is there now. Problem is that the distance between our front door (when closed) and our screen door is 3.5 inches - not 4. So, the mailbox doesn't fit where we wanted it.That said, I really wish it had fit.The box is well constructed, the lid closes without banging, the color is uniform and decorative. In short, this mailbox looks built to last. I only wish we could have used it.

Super Heavy Duty and looks Great. I'd suggest drilling a third hole in between the top two since it was hard getting the bottom two screws in. If you do this be careful not to make it too tight since it will affect the top piece from closing (if it does, loosen the screw). If you decide not to put the inner piece in, you can see the mail inside, but it is not very noticeable. Great, sturdy mailbox. Yes, there are holes in the front so if it is not protected from weather, your mail may get wet. However, they do include a "privacy" insert that will block the holes from the inside. My only complaint, and reason that it doesn't get 5 stars is that the lid will not stay open on it's own. So if you have stuff in one hand while trying to get your mail out with the other (say house keys, a grocery bag, etc) or only HAVE one hand... it's hard to get the mail out. I imagine it's even more frustrating for the mailman with his full hands.

This is a tough one to review. I think the box is well constructed. There is a plate to cover the holes in an unprotected area but not sure if it works all that well.Letters get wet. I can only surmise it is from the cover plate not doing its job. May have to seal and super glue the plate to know for sure.If your area is protected from elements this should be fine
