Everyday Emerson: The Wisdom of Ralph Waldo Emerson Paraphrased

It is amazing (and disheartening) that we are now 175+ years beyond Emerson’s writings and his philosophy is still as valid (and as sorely in need of remembering and heeding) as they are. Congratulations to Torode for bringing them back to our consciousness! We have made much progress, but there is still so much more to accomplish.

Ralph Waldo Emerson is one of those authors you never got around to in college. Torode has done brilliant job of compressing Emerson’s ideas into a free pages. After reading this slim volume I have referred to it many times in conversations with friends. The book is a valuable guide to dealing with our fracture and overwhelming world. Truly hard to believe the original was written decades ago.

Incredibly good read. Sam Torode does a great job of putting his works into plain English, cuts out repetition from the original authors and condensed his works very well. Very thought provoking and full of wisdom. Highly recommend

I didn’t think that thoughts from 150 year ago was as relevant today as this book demonstrated. I found this fascinating and looking for more original works.

I started reading Nature and immediately wanted to know more about Emerson and the people around him. This book provides great context and summaries. It's concise, easy to reference, and a good road map to similar readings.
