Indispensable Chip Collecting Reference
If you are a collector of casino chips, this is an essential reference. It does not cover all chips made, but it covers the most popular collecting segments of Nevada, South Dakota, Colorado, Riverboats and Atlantic City. James Campiglia put a tremendous amount of work into this publication, and although it is getting somewhat dated at this point, most of it is still very valid and useful. What this book has that most other chip guides don't have, is nice color pictures, not of every chip, but James covered enough "examples" for each casino so you can generally find/recognize what you're looking for. He also addresses condition as a value factor, which other guides generally avoid. He also included lots of historic casino pics, informational snippets about the casinos, owners, and the chips themselves, which are very useful and in some cases entertaining. I use this book almost every day for my chip collecting hobby.James has said he probably won't be doing another edition, but if he did all of us collectors would be in line to buy it.

Great Guide for Novice Collectors but outdated.
A bit outdated, but gives a general idea of values. Some of the pricing seems inaccurate I.E. some R4 chips have higher values than R6 & R7 chips. The guide is nice for confirming editions and pictures are nice. The book is very high quality and pictures are very good. The book was published in 2008, so it is pretty outdated. This guide is excellent for novice collectors. The Chip Rack guide 19th edition came out 12/18 so pricing chips is better using The Chip Rack.

Great reference book, pricing not so accurate
This book was an excellent resource for learning about casino chips. As with any price guide these days, the prices are totally inaccurate. Ebay, unfortunately, is the only realistic source for what things actually sell for these days. A chip guided at $500 possibly sells for $50.For any true collector or dealer, the information about the subject is more valuable than the usual tv show question, "What's it worth?" That question is usually fairly easy to answer once you have learned what you have. The need for good reference books will never go away. And, that is exactly what this book is.

Missing much information one would expect.
This book misses California gaming rooms, and many other mentionable card rooms and gambling establishments using personalized checks.

A Must for Casino Chip Collectors and Gaming History Buffs
If you collect casino chips, or are just interested in the history of casinos and casino chips, then this book is a must. Every conceivable chip from just about every casino that ever existed is displayed. Chips are all listed with an estimated value which is very useful, especially for the casual collector like myself. There is a thorough discussion of chip characteristics and grading criteria. The research that went into this book is phenomenal. Mr. Campiglia has painstakingly documented sales, scarcity and the history of each and every chip. The book is well laid out with color photos of each chip and many photos of the casinos they came from. There are also many interesting factoids and anecdotes pertaining to the history of casinos in America. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and refer to it often as I build my collection. I give this book my highest recommendation.

VERY COMPREHENSIVE AND INFORMATIVE: GREAT REFERENCE
I took a chance on this book and found it well worth the money. Thepublishers however need to do a better job with its binding. It comesapart and I had to Elmers glue many of the pages. WHATS UP WITHTHAT? I found the info however very helpful and informative and itseems to be complete with many hard to find items.

Very useful
Excellent and well written book. Has most of the chips on the current market, but finding some on Ebay that arn't in the book. Hopfully they will expand the book in the next addition. The format is very easy to use. A web site to reference with updated / additional photos would be nice.

Limited Value
While nice to look at I am finding it to be of very limited value and would not recommend it, but that is just me, I am sure others like it, but I feel it is out of date, does not cover everything it claims to cover

Casino Chip Catalog
This is a grdeat catalog, improving with each edition. The only drawback is that it doesn't include all casinos. All the casinos in the USA run by Indian tribes are missing. More photos would also be helpfull.
