Love of Cooking
This book takes a prominent place on my shelves of cookbook and as well on history and a love of a good story. My interest in France and in cooking prompted me to buy this book. I am so glad I did! I have made several of the recipes and they have turned out to be marvelous dishes. The pictures are beautiful and makes one long to travel to the countryside of France.

Love it!
I had seen Ann on Martha S years ago and wanted her book. I am sure the recipes are good but, right now, am enjoying the pictures and stories even more! It is charming and historical; with many recipes to entice!

Ah, for the Good Life
Ms. Willan ranks right up there with the best of the chef/authors today. Her recipes are concise and her techniques are some of the easiest to follow while producing some of the best results. I cut my culinary teeth on the her book on French Regional Cooking and still consider it to be one of the best books on French cooking written. This books not only charms, it informs and really brings the feeling of living in the French countryside to life as no other cookbook/decor/biography does. I have to say, the Tarte Tatin in the French Regional Cookbook is, in my opinion, preferable to the one contained in Chateau.

"Oh My Goodness"
Not at all what I was expecting. My collection includes only one of her other works. It was a cut above. However this book was like taking a journey with a tour guide and more, more, more. I was going to give it to my son for his birthday. However, have to search because will not part with it. I wonder if she does French chocolates

More wonderful recipes, garnished with delightful stories!
Anne Willan's books occupy a prominent place in my cookbook collection and all are treasured. Her recipes never fail; everything is set out clearly and her instructions are to the point. This book has the added attraction of being a highly engaging account of her life in her chateau, so even if you can't boil an egg but you love France, this book has a lot to recommend it. And if you have never looked at Anne Willan's books before, consider her "French Regional Cooking" too; absolutely the best boeuf bourguigon recipe you will ever find, plus much more.

Excellent, actually
This book is a bit on the old school side of French cuisine, but it is quite well done and entertaining.

Five Stars
Beautiful book, mostly about the chateau. Not many recipes, but a great coffee table book.
