Aurelia Grande Unlined Hardcover Journal, 240pg, 120GSM by Paperblanks (Aurelia)

I was expecting it to be stunning, as I have it in a smaller size. I wasn’t disappointed. It’s gorgeous, vivid, many shades of deep red gleaming with multifaceted gold accents. It’s beautiful from every angle. The only flaw, typical for books sent through the mail, was slightly mashed upper right corners. Since these books are designed to look vintage, it doesn’t bother me, but beware of the possibility if you’re a perfectionist.I saw that a previous reviewer was unhappy with the paper’s poor resistance to ink, and agree that because of this paper’s high fiber content and pleasantly untreated surface, it’s absorbent. My fountain and liquid ink pens run out a bit quicker on it, and I write only on one side of pages because it can bleed. I counter that by using extra fine nibs, gel and hybrid ink, or a soft Blackwing pencil. If you’re going to use a fountain pen I recommend a disposable one (inside a decorative sheath if you want it to look elegant) because disposable fountain pens write reliably and are economical dispensing ink.

Paperblanks has been one of my fav companies for about 10 years. They continue to make good journals and notebooks. So pretty and unique. I do wish they would make journals with thicker paper for those of us that like to use heavier pens.I would recommend this company a bazillion times. :-)

Looked better in the photo than "in person."

This journal has a beautiful cover and a really nice look and feel to it. The binding is really nice and the book gets reasonably close to laying flat. The paper appears to be quite a good weight. However, there is a huge amount of show-through when writing with any kind of fountain pen or fine liner. If you risk a Sharpie, then you'll need to put a piece of scrap paper behind the page to stop it going through two pages.Needless to say, you can only realistically write on one side of the paper. A beautiful journal but the paper is more than a bit disappointing.

I am an Avid writer, go through 200 pages of a notebook every few weeks or so. so I've been through a lot of journals and notebooks. This journal here is the most beautiful and gorgeous journal I've ever seen. it is so beautiful I am hesitant to write in it haha. Some have mentioned that the colour isn't as vivid in real life etc, however, I think that must be intentional because, in person, the design looks much more authentic and beautiful. This will now be my permanent journal. Amazon please but 24 aside for me per year. If you're in two minds, its worth it. The bind and paper quality of the paperblanks products are really great value for money.

Hardback, heavy, high quality, beautiful design, great quality blank pages - great for anybody who likes to write.
