Voices of Color: 50 Scenes and Monologues by African American Playwrights (Applause Books)

Useful Collection. Someone should update it with more shows
I enjoy this collection, I am using it to teach a class of youth right now. It can be a bit challenging finding and edit scenes without profanity, so I had to get creative by chopping a few scenes. I hope that someone releases another anthology of scenes that are a bit more modern or update this one. 20 years of great work by African American playwrights have been produced since this book was published. It would be great to have more selections of scene-books for actors of color.

Great collection
Great collection of plays that have a broad cross section of black voices in theatre. Helped me find a number of great plays

Good but, but not for those needing only monologues.
It's a solid collection. The pieces don't have tremendous range but it's a good mix. My problem is that I cared more for the scene pieces but I was looking for, and bought the book with the intention of finding monologues. The book is pretty evenly spilt between monologue and scene work and then split again by man and woman. I don't regret the purchase even though it wasn't 100% what I was looking for.
