Brilliant!
Would recommend to anyone with teenage sons! This game has brought hours, or should I say days and nights of pleasure to my son and his friends! It took a good few days to work out the instructions but once understood this game is awesome!

A Wonderful WWII Tactical Game
"Tide of Iron" from Fantasy Flight Games is an amazing gaming experience that is sure to please wargamers and fans of World War II themed games. Two to four players take on the roles of German or American forces in France in 1944. Players have initial choices of how to distribute units among their allotted forces, and the mechanic that places four unique units on a single stand is really cool. The hex system, game board, cards, and dice system are all a lot of fun. The only complaint I have is that some of these scenarios are a little unbalanced, usually giving one side or the other a distinct advantage. Even those scenarios are fun, however, and I've yet to play a game that I didn't walk away from with a smile on my face. This is really one of those games that afterword during the postmortem you have just as much fun reliving the game's tension and looking at what might have been. Simply a great game from start to finish!

Cheers !
Gee , I think I did well . Second-hand it said . Hardly looked like it had been played even . To pick it up for half retail at the most , and finding that it was in English ( my country of origin ) , although bought on Amazon.jp , think I scored a ton . Havent actually played it though , not yet the time , but i cant see my opinion changing very much , not on a read of the booklet accompanying it .

Great Game, Needed Better Scale
Tide of Iron is a game that sadly has been dropped by Fantasy Flight and that's too bad because it really was a great game. It allowed for some really enjoyable small unit tactics and was diverse enough to even account for weather conditions and light conditions. My only complaints were that often the scale of the vehicles was not correct from one to the other. Panzer 4's for instance were bigger than Tiger tanks and in reality they are less than half the size of a Tiger. This could be considered a minor issue but given the limited amount of space to place tanks and figures in a given hex on the game board it quickly became a very noticeable issue during game play. Still the game was very enjoyable and I'm sad to see it go.

Review based on my experience
OK, TOI is a big game. The rules are long, complex, and sometimes tedious. But, the concept of using just a few small squads is really fun, and, if you can play with friends who also like the big complex games, this is really fun. We have played this game now more than 15-20 times, and almost each game comes down to the last roll of the die. It can be a little slow on the front end, but almost always gets intense by the end.Well worth it

Tide of Iron
I am a playing collector of war games and find TOI an enjoyable experience. The game is a not completely developed with the rules a bit loose in places, the strategy cards mostly bland, and a curious absence of anti-tank guns (I borrow the Memoir 44 ones and give them the ability of tank guns without the protection). What you get is a self contained and complete miniatures game that is not overly complicated and features all aspects of tactical combat: opportunity fire, assault, overrun etc.The sequence of play is unique and works. Absent are nationality differences, though. That's ok too: you can tinker with this one and come up with your own fixes.Ah..and there is something about these little miniatures.
