Works very well with the handle roller kit they also sell. Using to roll up a solar cover for a 12ft above ground pool. Very sturdy and at a price that I thought was high, but it is quality, you get what you pay for. Buy it once or..... Just buy this one.

I had to go out and buy my own screws because the ones they sent were to short. It went together pretty easily.

This has been a lifesaver! Before I got this I didn't even want to put the cover back on because it was such a hassle. I can do it alone now and it only takes me a few minutes to put it on and take it off. I was a little worried due to some of the reviews but I just followed the directions and it worked lol

This is the system that needs to be bought with the pole (sold separately). the system and reel do pivot for easy one person removal! seems solid. we bought the "Hydro Tools 54000 Aluminum Pole Pool Solar Blanket Reel System for 52000/53000" with it. this is the pole only. you need both items for you pool!It came a lot quicker than expected. was told 4-5 weeks but got it in a weeks time!We are not installing it on our above ground pool until next year, as it's time to close down the pool. I am sure we will be very happy with it once installed next year.

I got all three items (solar cover, reel and pole - since all are separate) very quickly from Amazon. I thought assembling the reel system was extremely difficult. It lack a couple screws and plates that were needed to secure the solar cover to the straps. Mostly, I got to a point that I did not even look at the directions and improvised. I have only rolled and unrolled the solar cover ONCE. So far it seems great! The reel is easy to use and I can do it by myself. It is a little difficult to lift the entire roll with solar cover off the pool by myself. Overall, seems great, but I have not put it to a lot of use yet. 3 stars for the crappy directions.

Our box with the poles was delivered with both ends of the box opened, the poles wrapped in plastic practically sliding out. There was no manual or any other parts such as screws and hooks that are shown in the pictures on Amazon, just the poles…In addition, with needing to buy the HydroTools reels separately, the manual that came with them mentioned that there would be holes in the poles in order to insert screws that would allow for the reels to turn the poles. There were not markings or holes on the poles whatsoever, we had to use a ruler and power drill to create our own holes and buy screws and bolts that would hold the poles in place.Be warned, it was a ton of extra work in order to make it work for us, but we struggled to find something long enough to fit the width of our pool. For the price, you may want to look elsewhere if you can.

I installed 8 more screws to make sure it was extra sturdy. Works great for my 18ft pool.

I purchased this along with the reel (sold separately). It was simple to put together. Makes putting solar cover on and off much easier. Highly recommend.

Sturdy enough. They require a minimum of 9” overlap but I don't think that's enough. This is supposed to be for pools between 16'-21' but I wouldn't use this for anything over 20'.
