Sturdy and stylish
I dithered a bit, wondering if I should spend ÂŁ50 on a fireguard when I already had a 70 year old battered object that didn't fit my arched Victorian fireplace. Finally decided to treat myself, I'm so glad I did. It's sturdy but elegant and looks like it was made for my fireplace (which of course it was generically speaking).

The handle is impossible to use
The handle is impossible to use as it is in the wrong place, so have to move the fire guard by holding it at the top which isn’t ideal, the fire guard itself is good

Great fit
Fits perfectly and looks good. Same problem as others, will need to cut the screw down that holds the handle on as it's too long, but no biggie. Definitely does what I bought it for, to stop the cat going up the lum! (lum, Scottish for chimney)

Very lightweight
From the title "heavy duty" I expected this to be a weighty fireguard but it is as light as a feather. Keeps the cinders in but no chance of keeping the cats out when the fire is unlit or children away from it.I haven't lit the fire because it's too flimsy.
