The Famous Family Trees

Beautiful art!
I can’t believe this was so cheap! The illustrations are in beautiful watercolor, the hardcover is great quality and has gilding on it. The book is super cool. Some of the family trees are a little bit maze-y, but it really suits the illustration style and the intricacies of families. This would be good for kids who are interested in history. It would probably be good for kids who can already read and take initiative in nonfiction illustrated books

hard to read
Beautiful book, but the illustrations are so busy that the lines on the family trees are hard to read, so it takes a long time and lots of focused attention to see how people on the page are related to one another.

Not a favorite, but lovely drawings
Beautiful illustrations, but not a very interesting read for my 8 an 12 year old. It just didn't capture their interest.

Great gift!
I bought this for my daughter who loves biographies and loves to learn about who is related to who and how, she absolutely loved it! She got quite a few gifts for christmas and said this was her favorite because every time she opens it she learns something new.

Love the details and beautiful images
I bought this book for my fact/date loving 10 year old. We love it! I keep it on our coffee table all the time for him to browse through. I love the artistic renderings and details. It’s a really beautiful and informative book. The price is really great, too. My only complaint is I wish there were more family trees.

A FASCINATING BOOK WITH WHIMSICAL ILLUSTRATIONS
What a fascinating little book!! There is a lot of good information packed in these pages along with whimsical illustrations that make it a joy to read. There is quite a variety of people who are featured - an unexpected mix. There are well-known figures like the Brontes, Shakespeare, Henry Ford, and J.F. Kennedy as well as people like Annie Oakley and Laura Ingalls Wilder.. Quite an eclectic mix! One of the most interesting to me was someone I'd never heard of - Ada Lovelace, the world's first computer programmer! There is a good assortment of world leaders, people in literature, dance, and music. Both men and women are fairly equally represented. This would be a great gift for someone of any age.

Layout can be confusing
This book is a great idea for getting children interested in genealogy. However, the use of certain colour combinations makes it hard to read the text in parts, and it's not always easy to follow the lines of descent/connection even with experience of ancestor charts - perhaps more consistency in colour and chart design might have served the purpose better. In addition some common misconceptions have been repeated, though on the whole the information was interesting.
