VIOFO A129 Duo (All-Inclusive Bundle) 2 Channel 1080P Front and Rear Dash Camera | WiFi GPS Built-in | Hardwiring Kit, Installation Kit and 2X CPL Filter (Front and Rear) Included

I bought this dash cam after watching a video review by Car Cam Central, the young man in the video did a professional job of describing and showing the features of this camera duo. I was thinking of purchasing a more expensive Blackvue or Thinkware camera setup but decided that the added feature of 4K video and cloud subscription backup were not worth the extra money, you may feel differently.I decided to purchase the mac-daddy bundle with the 3 wire power kit, installation kit and the 2X CPL filters and I am glad I did. The hardwire kit comes with 2 of each type of fuse tap (ATO, Mini, Compact Mini, and Micro2) so there is one for the Accessory and the Main Power wires of the converter. Also this HK3 wiring kit is necessary to enable the Parking Mode.After installation the unit started right up and performed as described. I did learn that you have to use the USB power plug on the Head Camera Unit and not the Power port on the GPS base to properly power the unit if you want to use the Parking Mode and have it operate properly. If you use the GPS base power port the unit will not recover properly coming out of Parking Mode back into Driving Mode, it just does not record unless you push the record button. Also the CPL filters eliminate glare and reflective images from the windshield giving you a much better picture.All in all I am very happy with this unit and the bundle. You save a lot of money by buying the all inclusive bundle. I intend to purchase another one for my Sierra, but this bundle is sold out for now. It is supposed to be back in stock in a couple of weeks.I gave only 4 stars on Picture quality, because I haven't been able to verify that I can read license plates yet. I have not downloaded any video to my computer to see if it is legible on a computer screen as apposed to a phone or the camera screen. Hope this helps you.7/30/19 Update: This is an update now that I have had more experience. The parking mode works well, but the unit tends to not come out of parking mode and back into driving mode with the initial ignition upon return to the vehicle. It wakes up but hangs requiring a manual power off and restart either by button or ignition. Viofo Customer Service has been very responsive and inquiring about exactly what the symptoms are so, I assume, they can locate the bad firmware code and fix with an update.The unit records constantly during parking mode so surveillance is complete.The iPhone app is a little clunky but works and makes adjusting settings much easier. Sometimes play back of a clip will stall on the app.I am still very happy overall. I have read where people who purchased the Blackvue and Thinkware units at twice the price have problems with overheating in parking mode, so I not sure there really is any failsafe units out there. I figure if the worst case is I have to manually shut down the camera when I return to the vehicle after extended parking that really is not much of a big deal. And for $200 for the all in bundle I intend to stick with Viofo and buy another A129 Duo for my truck and wait for the firmware update.Take care.Regards,Lewis

This seller is terrific. I start off with that because I did need help with...a lot! They are very responsive. Now, onto the review. Love the picture quality of both the front and rear cameras.First, the micro SD. I got the 64G. Format it IN the camera. Plug the camera into your cig lighter. Turn OFF Record (light will blink) and Wi-Fi. Push the 3 line button and scroll. You'll find the format place. Takes no time at all to do. While you are there, set the time, date and any other adjustment you might want. Exit out.Put the filtering len on camera if you got that.Once you have the camera in place (we had ours installed by local sound man), drive around town a couple days then take out card and see if you are pleased with the placement angle of your lens. Look at the pictures (videos) on your computer. Remember to put the card back in the camera and reformat it in the car if there is no reason to save the video. If you need to adjust the angle of the lenses, just move them one click at a time up or down.Again, I love the quality of the cameras, and the seller is great. Got ours because a State Trooper tried to say I ran into him when he backed into me! Luckily, there were store cameras around that told the truth.Remember, the camera will catch the bad guy and sometimes YOU might be the bad guy.This camera does more than I am describing, but once you get comfortable you can find out more yourself!

It was working perfectly fine at first. I had the batt and acc powered by 5amps each in the fusebox. But suddenly, the main cam's screen would slowly fade out... I unplugged the rear camera, and then it started functioning fine.Not sure if I got a defective camera, or if 5amps isn't enough, but this is getting to be annoying. When plugged into the main USB power port instead of the fuse box, the issue persisted. At first it worked fine, but later began to do the same.

This all inclusive kit was a real time/money saver. I highly recommend the 3-wire Kit. It supports parking lot mode (others do not), and all wires are hidden. I also like the polarized filters These prevent glare in the picture. One warning, several videos show simply sliding the cables under the trim. Beware! This causes the cable to wrap around the side airbags! Take the extra time to remove the side trim and thread the cable UNDER the air bag.

The camera is woefully unreliable.Once a week the camera stops recording while still showing the red recording light.I’ve had my car vandalized 3 times and only once was the camera recording.Finally, my car got totalled in a t-bone, but the camera had previously frozen without my noticing, so I ended up getting charged with careless driving when it wasn’t my fault. My insurance company was forced to pay, and my premiums skyrocketed. Since I cheaped out on this garbage camera, I have lost and will continue to lose $2,000 a year for at least 5 years in extra premiums.Thanks VIOFO <3At least the picture quality is 4 star (when it’s recording)
