Everybody Wins!!!!
If you want to stay in great physical shape, burn the most calories, in the least amount of time, cycling could your solution. It isn't about how fast you ride, it is about how consistently you get out on the bike. Get out every day for one week at the same time (no matter what...it isn't easy) it doesn't matter how far or how fast...just ride. The second week same you'll find getting it is much easier...and again...ride as far or fast as you are comfortable. As you sit here and read this it may seem weird, something someone would probably do....but not you...ya I know. I did that too.Don't share your plan with anyone,,,,of course, they are there to hold you to the commitment is your plan, keep it that way, The worse thing that is going to happen...and I mean this....you are going to have to buy a lot of new clothes. OK If you are saying, "Oh I can't afford to do that"I was in the same situation...The Salvation Army has wonderful slightly used and many brand new clothes that did not fit for sale at very low prices and the proceeds go to those who are in far more need than you and me. Thus you, lose weight; become healthy for your family.....and others benefit from your generosity!!!

I have been cycling for 3 years as a crossover from my lifelong running activities. Even as I continue to be a runner, cycling has become more preferred these days. Fellow cyclists have been very helpful as I have gotten to learn the sport but reading this book really completes the things to know whether starting out or for someone like me who is more than a novice but not yet a seasoned veteran. Mark Smith has given anyone interested in cycling a wealth of information in his concise guide. Next time you stand out of the saddle, take a bow. Kudos!

Good easy read
I enjoyed the easy read. A lot of good information for beginning riders to help them get out there and enjoy the ride. The group riding tips seem to be more slated for the faster pace line groups. Not the beginning no-drop groups.

Quick Read with Good Advice for the Beginning Rider
Shouldn’t take more than 2 hours to read but packed with solid, practical and pragmatic advice that will hopefully serve me well.

Great Book on Cycling Realities
Very practical and much common sense. It is also a reality check on what it's like to become a serious cyclist rather than an occasional rider.

Descent book but not great.
A descent read, but nothing you wouldn't pick up from other free info or just getting out and riding with others. I did think it was concise and well-written.

Title says it all
Good intro to cycling recreationally, as he defines it. Appreciated the introductory technical information about gearing that you might be embarrassed to ask and good beginner tips for long rides (40 mile 4 hour plus) if you're just starting out. I read the entire thing during one 40 minute Train ride.

Efficient Riding
I had no idea how important being able to ride a bike efficiently is! This book explains the importance of being able to draft the rider in front of you, and provides a ton of advice about how to develop this skill. I now appreciate that I’ll never be able to ride as far by myself as I can when drafting and working with a team of others.

Enthusiastic and clear
This is the story of a person who started out curious about something and, over time, developed a deep and abiding love of serious recreational cycling. Regardless of why you choose to bike - or are just curious about cycling - you will appreciate the author’s honest presentation of his story about becoming a serious recreational cyclist, and it will be worth it to read that story.
