Item not as described
I bought the item thinking there's going to be a hole through the top ring because the picture in the listing had a hole though the ring. But the item that I have received did not have a hole through the top ring. I'm very upset as this is false advertising and I can't fix my Kitchenaid stand mixer with this gear. The shipping took a while and I'm very dissapointed that it's not what's in the image. I will be returning this gear that I have received.

Money saver
Inexpensive fix to an expensive piece of equipment. Still working great 4 months in. Was not too hard to do if you carefully follow directions. Many youtube instructional videos out there. You need to make sure you have a screw driver, punch, and hammer. As well as something to clean up the grease.

Relatively straightforward repair
Photo of old gear showing stripped off teeth and a photo comparing the new gear and finally the repaired mixer. Good repair instructions are online. This gear is held onto the shaft with a 3/32 x 3/4 roll pin - I found a steel one at Ace Hardware. The old pin was aluminum and did not look reusable.I would not call the whole repair super easy. Getting the old pin out is a bit tedious. I ran the old grease through a sieve and reused it since it looked clean. Next time I’d also buy new food safe grease. The repaired mixer works great again. These Kitchenaids are sturdy and worth fixing.

Saved me hundreds!
I had replaced the worm gear with another seller's product and it didn't fix my KitchenAid Artisan mixer. I then replaced just about every other part with no luck. On a whim decided to try a different worm gear before throwing in the towel and buying a whole new mixer. Low and behold it worked!! Great part, well made, good price. May buy another to have as backup. Thanks!

Simple fix for when your KitchenAid won't spin!
I love, love, love my KitchenAid. I use it to shred my chicken, make the yummiest desserts, and when I have a lot of items that need to be mixed together and I am too lazy to flip that much. I was making bread and mine broke. It wouldn't spin anymore! I called a few places and they all wanted around $200 to fix it. The damn thing cost that much brand new!!! My sweet husband googled and the main problem when they stop spinning is that the gear worm goes out. He ordered this from Amazon because of the supppppper fast two day shipping! He opened it up, and exchanged the old one for the new one and it's perfect again. Also, only cost about $8 compared to the repair guy's $200. Google :How to Fix a KitchenAid Mixer That Isn't Spinning. You will find detailed instructions and it was so easy.

Good Luck. I may buy another just to have ...
This is the key replacement part to fix your Kitchenaid stand mixer. This piece is designed to fail if your mixer gets jammed from too stiff batter. No worries. Don't send it to a repair center. They will charge you an arm and a leg. Do-it-yourself repair is not that hard. Use an internet guide such as [...] to guide you through the process. It looks more complicated than it really is. Make sure you have the proper tools handy. I did purchase a "punch" which made the repair process much easier. It did take some time and some elbow grease. And there was ALOT of yucky black grease inside the machine--all which helps to keep things running smoothly. DON'T THROW THE GREASE AWAY. Good Luck. I may buy another just to have it on hand.

Easy, Fast, and SAVES YOU $$$$
This part was extremely easy to install, and is apparently the main issue that people have with Kitchen-Aid stand mixers. I was going to replace my mixer because sending it in for the repair was going to cost more than half what a new one costs. However, I watched a video on YouTube and decided to try the repair myself when I realized the part was only a few dollars, and everything works great now! I got free same-day delivery (on a SUNDAY) when I was preparing a meal for the family that night, and got the part and had everything fixed in time to make a cake in the mixer for dessert! Don't waste the money sending your mixer in for this repair, watch a YouTube video, spend the $6 for the part, and do the repair yourself in 10 minutes time!!!!! By the way...I'm not a mechanic or engineer or anything either. Just a regular guy that can use a screwdriver!

Quality replacement part
I got this for a thrift bought 4.5 qt Kitchenaid mixer. Kitchenaid mixers have a specific gear made of nylon that's designed to break in case to large of a load is put on the mixer. This is the replacement; quite affordable for a high quality mixer. For me, this did the trick quite nicely. If your broken mixer doesn't turn, but you can hear the motor going, there's a decent chance this is the gear you need. Well worth the money.
