A solid book on biblical angels and angelology
A solid book analyzing all the typical Scripture verses that have been used throughout the ages to describe, explain, or justify the existence of angels and demons. The author was very honest in his being less than ready to fully commit to the well-known Isaiah Chapter 14 references to Lucifer as unequivocally referring to Satan. Yes, he essentially explains that we have nothing clearly showing that Isaiah 14's "Lucifer, son of the morning!" is actually Satan. I had never heard that before. I'm no scholar (I'm just a part-time, older seminary student), but having read books and heard some pretty well respected evangelists through the years unhesitatingly and without equivocation point to Isaiah 14's Lucifer as being the one and only Satan (ex: David Jeremiah), I cannot help but wonder if there may be some significant extrinsic ancient writings or some other authorities that Garrett (the author) did not mention but that do make that connection. I'm not even sure any extrinsic evidence is needed; I believe those Isaiah verses stand on their own pretty well as referring to Satan. And yes, I know that some less conservative people say that Isaiah is only referring to the King of Babylon there in Chapter 14, and not to Satan at all. But read alongside Scriptures like Luke 10:18, I just don't get Garrett. Bottom line, having already done some occasional studying of what the Bible says about angels, I was hoping to finish Garrett's book with an even more solid and more informed understanding of angels and biblical angelology; but instead, whether warranted or not, I felt like I came away with more questions than answers.

Angels and the New Spirituality - a "down to earth" book on the subject
Duane Garrett has covered the subject of angels about as well as anyone and far better than most. He sticks to the scriptures, refuses to speculate and exposes most of the cult-like angelologies that abound today. Well worth the read.
