These are simply the best can opener’s. With a little practice they are almost as fast as an electric!

If you are going to be in a situation where you might have to open a can of some food. Having one of these old styled P51 can openers around is a must. You may have a very small travel opener in your pop up camper, might have that real cool swiss army knife, or multi tool. It still cant hurt have a hand full of these. Put one everywhere in anything you can think of. They take up next to almost no space. Key chain, that little pocket in a purse or back pack, between two cards in a wallet, etc., etc. Practice at home with one on a small can of your favorite fruit or vegetable. Takes a few " turns" to get the hang of it, but you will.

As other reviewers described it is somewhat small and at first I was concerned that I would "open" a finger but I have not. After a few tries, I'm comfortable with. And it works on cans that suddenly can't be opened with a twist opener (seems that the metal can tops are thinner and is more likely to get pushed down rather than cut) and I can either use this for opening the whole can or just using it where the twist opener failed (as others in my household do). My one caution is that the can and lid edges are more jagged with this opener and may take a little more care in removing the contents.

While i always thought mechanical "turning" can openers would be easiest to open cans (barring an electric can opener), this little device takes significantly less effort, and will never rust out like most "turning" can openers. These are very simple and do the job they're supposed to.Do not expect ease-of-use or fancy features to be part of this product. That's not what it was designed for. This is not a luxury item. This is not what you'll want to use as a household daily-use item. If you open cans at home, get a nice, big, fancy, ergo-grip can opener. Those are great for opening cans at home, but not for packing into a small, light-weight camp bag or bugout back or emergency kit.If you've never used one of these before, I highly recommend trying it out at home first a few times, so you can figure out how it works and get the hang of it.
