GREAT ADDITION TO YOUR SEWING LIBRARY
QUILTING by Jennifer Fulton was and is exactly what I need to understand the process of quilting. The writing paired with the images make understanding the process easy.I am glad that I have made a few quilts because I can tell you that this book is everything a person needs if he or she is going to start quilting- by hand or by machine. The writer keeps it simple. It is not difficult to navigate the chapters if you want to skip to a specific style of quilting like: appliqueing. If you do not want to use the sewing machine QUILTING will walk you through the steps to hand sewing.I would say that QUILTING IDIOT’S GUIDES -As Easy As It Gets, is the very first book you should get if you want to learn how to quilt or there are some skills you need to work on.Did I mention there are lessons to help a sewist master a particular technique and projects that you can do?QUILTING is worth the investment. I recommend this book for all levels of quilter
This is the perfect book for the beginner, it shows aspects of quilting that the beginner hasn't tried or been given knowledge of yet. It's a book that intermittent quilts can use to brush up on techniques that will advance their ability or haven't been sure of just what is needed to complete a certain task. The experienced quilter can find knowledge they have chosen to stay clear of because they just haven't had training or tried in the past. The advanced quilter will find this a great teaching aid for their students of all levels. I found the "Y" seam instruction of great importance to me since my teacher (my grandmother) passed away before she could fully teach me a way to preform it so the finished product was smooth and pleasing to the eye. I have been quilting for more than forty years and I would steer away from anything with a "Y" seam because it almost never turned out right. After reading through the pages that explained the 'Y" seam and practicing on some scrap material, my ability has greatly improved. I'm now making all those quilts I have always wanted to make but didn't want to waste material on in the process. I would recommend this book for anyone who would like to advance their quilting skills or brush up on less used quilting techniques.

Helpful guidance for new quilters
Helpful introduction to quilting. Full-color pictures and detailed instructions for techniques. There are projects at the end of each chapter to help you build upon lessons of each chapter. I especially appreciated the sections on fabric, color value, and understanding how to conduct your own measurements for different sizes. It also explains how to modify patterns to increase for size. I was pleased with my purchase.

Disappointed
Sent it back. No colored pictures. I want to see what it's supposed to work/look like. That by no way means no one could benefit from it I'm a see as you go kind of gal.

Good reference book
Good reference book, I haven't used it yet but I have glanced through it. One of the ladies in our quilting class had one and she said it helped her with the binding of her quilt.

A great purchase.
I'm new to sewing and quilting so I felt silly when I had so many questions but this book put my mind at ease when I seen how simple things could be.
