two stoves, both caught on fire
I have always used Coleman white gas stoves. And I have always been pleased. We wanted to upgrade my very old stove to a larger model. So, I ordered this one. Two days into a two week camping trip, the gas began backing into the manifold. No amount of fiddling and working with the stove would remedy the problem. The next day, the manifold caught on fire.Amazon was wonderful about sending a replacement to our next camping spot. The replacement stove was still finicky but it didn't catch on fire. This year, on a two week camping trip, same thing. Lots of popping and leaking. Finally, it all burst into flames during breakfast one morning.I don't know what Coleman has done with these stoves but they are dangerous.I would not recommend them any more.I am trying to get my money back so that we can purchase a more dependable stove. We are going to try propane now, even though I am not fond of the idea of those cylinders and the fact that they cannot be recycled or refilled.

Great Stove
Stove arrived in good condition and works as intended. Fires up nicely and gets hot after the warm up period of about a minute. One thing I want to share with everyone, and this is general advice. NEVER buy something like a stove, a lantern, a tent etc. and take it camping without testing it at home first. Nothing ruins a fun camping trip like not testing your gear before you go. I felt the need to mention this since a few reviews mentioned that it didn't work (or they didn't know how to use it) when they were already camping. Receiving a broken product is bound to happen with Amazon at some point, don't set yourself up for failure by not testing first.

A fixer-upper
I am a Coleman fan, I have used their stoves for decades; white gas, propane of all types. I returned the first one delivered due to flaws and decided to keep it's replacement only after being confident that I could correct the same manufacturing flaws that the first one had. The support arm for the generator is bent and the cooking elements are not aligned so that the stem from the fuel tank will not insert into the generator without mild force. And at that the tab will not seat properly so that a slight thump will cause it to pop out. After loosening all the screws and adjusting the parts so that they align, the stem for the left hand burner is up against the wall so tight that it will not turn without resistance. I have not yet fired the stove yet until I can get the left burner control mechanism properly adjusted.

Don’t order this online
I owned a Coleman stove like this for many years and so was completely knowledgeable about how to set it up: the stove I received this week is defective. The fuel tank would not seat properly on the front of the stove because the fuel rod was soddered on at an angle rather than straight. I spent an hour on the phone with with the Coleman product guy, sent him pictures, etc, and he could not help me solve the issue and despite pictures he couldn’t comprehend the problem. I have requested a refund and am not reordering. I would advise anyone wanting this stove to go to a store, have them take one out of the box and be sure it works and that everything fits together properly before you buy this stove.

Most reliable
These are very under rated. I grew up camping with this type of Coleman stuff. I remember having to pump the fuel for what seemed forever before the thing would light. Used to have ,to have, the Coleman fuel. That’s false. Call me crazy, but, Coleman fuel in my own opinion was a sales tactic that worked. Buy their stuff.....need their fuel. I’ve used gasoline in a pinch several times when I ran out of the “Coleman Fuel”. Which I’m pretty sure is essentially kerosene. But I have also run out of gasoline. Just for the hell of it I put some really good whiskey in the tank. We cooked food that night. Bottom line. When it comes down to it.... if you are in a situation (camping, emergency evacuation, power out) where you have to cook on a stove like this..... I don’t want to worry about buying a few of those small 2# propane tanks. Knowing when the tanks run out no more cooked food. This will run off almost any flammable liquid

This ancient design nevertheless works very well.
Probably hasn't changed in 50 years. Works well. I use camp fuel normally but was forced to use unleaded on a trip when I ran out. That works well too but i flushed it and ran it with camp fuel when I got home fearing the unleaded additives might clog it eventually. I replaced my original because generator was clogged - probably from using unleaded only. I recommend not doing that.Carry your fuel funnel and a long lighter inside the case for storage. There's room for them.My only complaint is the secondary burner which is controlled by an awkward valve on the side and only runs when the main burner runs. Minor issue.

Stove has problems.
I collect and restore vintage Coleman stoves and lanterns. Looking at the parts, they seem equal to the older units but the build quality/fit and finish was lacking. On first run, it was running lean at full throttle and would backfire into the manifold at simmer, causing a fire in the manifold. While using it at night, I spotted flame coming from the manifold where it is brazed into the primary burner block. The tube was improperly brazed at the factory. I contacted Coleman and was told they no longer make this unit and didn't have a burner assembly in stock. They said to contact Amazon. Amazon was quick to offer a refund or replacement. I opted for the replacement because if all else fails the generator / tank assembly costs more than this did and can be used as a parts unit.

Good enough
Well, I think this is a good stove? Not quite the same as the one I owned a while back, maybe 30 years or so ago. The first stove I ordered from Amazon I had to return because one corner was crushed. No problems, no hassle. The second stove had an issue with the aux burner not shutting off completely. I did a warranty repair with Coleman. So, they sent out a new stove. The third time was the charm, a functional stove, not crushed, and both burners working when called upon. Overall, the outer case doen't seem as sturdy as those made years ago. It seems a lot thinner, well, more flexible. So, until I can locate an older model in good condition. This stove does the trick.

Very unexpected from amazon
It was used, it was received dirty and with fuel in it. I was camping and it failed to work and I had to drive to the nearest town to buy another stove for camping. Very bad experience.

Coleman build quality has slipped.
I Had to loosen and move the burners to get the generator pipe to fit properly. Latch hook on lid is not mounted straight! Coleman Quality has slipped, disappointing as it is made in the USA.

multi-fuel capability
I chose the multi-fuel version over the canister version because I did not know what I was going to do with a lot of empty fuel canisters. This is more environmentally sound and probably cheaper over the long run because it uses regular gas as an option.
