Homeschool Your Child for Free: More Than 1,400 Smart, Effective, and Practical Resources for Educating Your Family at Home

So much to choose from! And I suppose it's all not even the tip of the online resource iceberg. I went through the whole book, read every word, then went back and put a star next to everything I was interested in looking at more than just the description in the book. Each site has a good description of what you'll find. This will keep me busy for a long while! I enjoyed the way the authors wrote to me, shared stories, etc., and how thorough their research was. It really helps that I don't have to do ALL the researching, because I'm busy with science and history projects, teaching out little girl how to read, teaching math to our son, cleaning up their painting and other art and craft projects. Oh! and cooking and cleaning... Which never end, right? We homeschoolers are busy all the time! The websites and books they talk about, that I have checked out so far, are great! I'm happy with this book, and I will continue using it as our kids get further into their homeschooling. And most everything found in this books is free.

I picked this up because as homeschoolers we are always trying to save money and stick to our budget. Even though I purchased the newest and latest edition I was disappointed that some of the links were no longer working. Don't get me wrong this book is loaded with great info. It is pretty much internet and link related meaning you can look up info on free websites for homeschooling. I enjoyed reading but would probably not read it again .

This is my first year Homeschooling so I really need materials that I can read through easily and find information quickly. This is one of those kinds of resources. It is laid out well and we have used many of the websites recommended for many different subjects of study. My son has enjoyed the activities on these free websites included in the book and when he wants to practice math or whatever subject online he has many options to choose from. It includes preschool ages on up to High School.

Love this book. It’s overwhelming the amount of resources available but some of the URLs are outdated and no longer available. Still a great resource for homeschool.

Even when I decided to purchase this book, in the back of my mind I knew there would be dead links. Web sites change every day. Web addresses are complex and easily misspelled. I just knew it would be a risk! This is far worse than I expected; to date I have not found a single working site (just out of the ones I've tried, there may be plenty that work - I have just given up). The second star I give because there are ideas contained in the book that one could use to research alternatives on one's own. For example, I wanted to look up "felt boards" through a site listed in the book. The site was dead, but I was able to find suitable info via Google. Seeing the idea in the book helped me remember something I had wanted to try. I guess I'll use the book as a way to jog my memory about things I would like to do with my children and homeschool.

I am not homeschooling, but I chose to try and enrich my daughter's school experience. So far, I have been in awe of what I have found in this book. Yes, it's true, there are some dead links (anything starting in "tinyurl" should be ignored, and there are a lot) but the other links have been extremely useful and terrific. I would advise the author to update this book, and she would have a gold mine! Every other book I have checked out had paid resources, so 2 thumbs up for this book! You will not be sorry.

Wow, I had borrowed this book from the library and found it to be so full of useful and practical info that I ordered a copy to keep handy. The websites listed are so very helpful. I am so appreciative of the author's effort in doing all the work for me. I also like her writing style, it is friendly and humorous - like a friend talking to you. I am thrilled with this book.

I am still going through this book, but i have already found a few gems. I have long been an internet homeschooler, but this book really takes the footwork out of it. Great compilation of links, and a very wide variety for every subject.

There are so many books written regarding homeschooling and it is hard to wade through them all. I've taken out so many books from the library and been glad that I didn't invest the money in a purchase. This isn't one of those books. I will be ordered it asap because it will become a reference Bible to me."Homeschool your children for free" is amazing. With most homes having the internet now, families are able to find a great deal of materials to assist in their homeschooling goals, but this book points out links that I wouldn't have ever found on my own. It is far to easy to spend a fortune on curriculums and worksheets because you've exhausted the few sites that you have found! This books might be the answer for you. There are links regarding homeschool blogs, groups, free online courses, lesson plans, free books, art appreciation, skill building videos, level assessments and the list goes on and on. There are so many links and so much to see that I have only managed to look up a hand full of links within the first chapter. I've found so much already! I haven't found any links that aren't working, but as I mentioned I'm still absorbed in the first chapters suggestions. At some point it is likely that some of these links will in time be no longer up and running, but for the price of this book I hardly care.If you buy this book I doubt you'll be disappointed!
