This is a sturdy device as is necessary for my 300 lb sister. Because of the necessary sturdy construction it is not particularly light to lift, but manageable. Breaking it down for transport leaves the basic scooter wheels and frame in tact. Make sure you trunk accommodates this large base. You must remove the knee seat and mast to fold the handle bar and mast, The basket must be removed. This process is straight forward. I suggest marking the collar placement on the knee seat mast for easy reassembly. Because my sister has a cast on her leg the one level knee pad placed pressure on the lip of the cast and the placement of the knee is awkward for weight bearing. I ended up making an auxiliary pad out of foam wrapped in Kentucky chrome (duct tape). I would expect most users with a cast face this dilemma. A tie on firm auxiliary pad would be welcome and help to distribute the users weight more evenly. Her use of the scooter is certainly safer than her driving of a battery powered store cart.

Came In Handy
Having the scooter was very handy to my husband's recovery from foot surgery. It is sturdy but extremely heavy and has a small turning radius.
