This is a very good blender, especially for the price. I researched lots of different makes and models to find the one that was powerful enough to blend icy drinks AND within my price range. This fits the bill. I have made one drink so far -- coffee frappe -- the blender was powerful and there were no chunks of ice left. The mixture was very frothy. Below I comment on several aspects of the blender: use, cleaning, and features. USE: I have two complaints about use, both minor and neither of which affected my rating or my satisfaction with the blender. First, the blender is a little complicated to use at first. Read the directions because you have to put the lever and switch on particular settings to get the machine to start. Second, and this really surprised me, even when the correct settings are used, the blender takes a few seconds to actually 'go'. It initially seems like the blender is not going to start and then it does. So, the bottom line is get your settings right to begin, select speed (e.g., ice crush, smoothie, high) and then wait a few seconds for the blender to start. CLEANING: I did not try the self-cleaning instructions. I cleaned the blender by hand and it was easy. FEATURES: A main reason that the blender is so easy to clean is that the blades do not need to be removed. They are attached permanently to the blender jar, so there is nothing to take apart. The blender sits on a square base, which seemed to work very well. One negative feature is that the lid is super hard to remove. I know it's tight to prevent splattering, but I am afraid that I am going to spill my drinks prying this thing off. Maybe it will loosen with time. Even my husband (6' 5", 220 lbs) found it a really tight fit! FYI...the description says the cord is 4.5 inches long. It's not. It's about 3 feet long. I recommend this blender.Update 8/17/2019: I have now used this blender about 6-8 times. It continues to work extremely well. I also now understand why the blender takes a few seconds to start: The user must always start from the 'stiop' position and then turn the dial to the desired setting. As the user does so, however, other settings must be passed by. For example, the user will need to pass by the ice chopping setting to get to the smoothie setting. The delay allows the user to get to the desired setting without having the blender start on an undesired setting. Also, the lid has gotten easier to remove, or I've gotten more skilled at removing it. I recommend this blender without reservations.

We researched many more expensive ones and then decided to try this one verses buying another $300 or more blender. It is very powerful and straight forward to use. It is powerful and easy to clean too. We really like it. The design for pouring is very nice also! We have had no issues chopping up ice, ice cream, sherbet, yogurt and fruit. bananas, avocados, pears that were sliced, strawberries, raspberries, blue berries, celery, peanut butter, peanuts etc. It has been a time using it and we really are glad we purchased this blender as it does everything we need - smoothies, shakes, deserts, puddings and energy drinks!

I bought this for my wife for her birthday. She loved it on appearance alone. After using it, she loved ME all night long. All jokes aside, this is by far the best blender she has EVER owned. I come from 25 years in the restaurant business, and this blender is just as good, if not better, than all blenders I have used. This is a ROCK SOLID piece of machinery. I rated this 5 stars because it is a 5 star tool.Ease of use: self explanatory. It's super easyDurability: This is not light weight, this is not for a tiny kitchen. The pitcher is thick pvc and is easy to clean.Power: Hold on to your underwear. We make a LOT of salsa. In our old blenders, we would hold the "Blend" button down for about 20 -25 seconds to get the consistency we like. With this blender, 2-3 seconds is all we need. Any more than that, and we would need a straw. Basically, this machine will get any job done, no problem.One draw back if it's even a draw back. Before I bought this item, I read reviews. I came across one lady's review, and she did mention that the lid is tightly fit. She actually got her 6'6" 285 pound husband to take the lid off for her and he agreed, it was very tight. I ahree with them. I actually like that, however, my fear is I wonder how the gasket will hold up after wear and tear. Only time will tell. I HIGHLY HIGHLY reccommend this.

I'm in love with making fruit smoothies and green juices, but I also love soups. This blender is able to do both and it makes the after clean very easy as well. The bender is two parts the removable section where you put the fruits or veggies your blending the cap is made up of the rubber section and cap in addition to a screw top for faster drop in if your blending. The plastic blender is made very sturdy and does not seem like it'll crack easily. Id say pretty comparable to other high end blenders. I looked up soup recipes that are easy like tomato based ones and the blender was able to blend everything down smooth and even at the speed make the soup warm and steamy. (I had to test and try this, but i left the blender on high for about 3 minutes and the soup was ready to eat on the spot). The fruit smoothies I make are blended super well and come up very balanced and not chunky. The clean up is the best part I think. I take a quirt of detergent and then water and put the blender on high for a minute or two and then hit the pluse button to make sure its cleaning everything, in the past it's cleaned everything, but I also take a quick sponge and water to make sure all the soaps off the machine. Overall i'm so glad this blender is versatile and easy to clean.

much better than my old cheap blender.use mostly for smoothies using frozen fruits, and this thing has no problem.just make sure you read the instructions... or else you'll be scratching your head trying to figure out why it won't turn on.middle switch in the stop position, turn power on, then select mode....all good after that
