Makes basting easier
I use these to base quilts and they work great. Makes the basting process easier on my hands

This quilter is delighted!
I bought these almost 2 years ago (when they were still available through Amazon.ca directly at a reasonable price) but only recently had a quilt large enough to warrant pin-basting, and boy am I thrilled with them!I usually dread pin-basting due to bruised, painful fingers but this time...no pain at all, even after 500+ pins! And that's without the Kwik Klip tool that should be used with them. It was a thin quilt though, so I do think the tool would be good to have for future, thicker, quilts.I found having covers on my pins especially useful because there were no exposed but somewhat invisible pins to get caught on my presser foot as I quilted on the machine. I could see the pins easily and the covers just helped my presser foot slide on past without issue. The only downside was installing them on the pins which was a bit painful for my weak hands, using the pliers to click each one onto the pin. But I'm still giving 5 stars because the ease of use made up for that in the end.I highly recommend these delightful pin covers!

Work on 1.5" pins
When I read the instruction pamphlet it had the pinhead covered with the plastic cover. That would be correct for size #1 (1") curved safety pins. Mine are 1.5" steel straight quilting safety pins and after a few tries, they do work really well. The photo is a quilt sandwich of two layers of batting with a top and backing layer of fabrics.

Great for quilting, assembly required
I purchased these some time ago along with #1 curved safety pins and the kwik clip tool. (I really got tired of being assaulted by straight pins while quilting.) Attaching these to the safety pins required the use of needle nose pliers to firmly attach them. Once they were on the curved safety pins, they stayed on. I use these for small quilts, table runners, etc. In other words, anything small enough to be quilted on my machine rather than a long arm. Adding the Kwik Clip tool to open and close these makes them easy to put on and take off the quilt. Plus there is that being able to see them factor! My eyes, unlike the rest of me, are getting older and it's sometimes hard to see "naked" pins in the quilt. This is a great solution for me.The only drawback I've encountered is that it took some time for me to attach these covers to the safety pins. I do think the effort was worth it because they do work for me and it was a one-time chore.

Excellent product my favourite new quilting tool.
These pin covers are fabulous. I had some old (over 20 years) #1 curved safety pins that were difficult to put the covers on. Not every pin would work. I bought two bags of these covers. With second bag of pin covers I also bought new #1 curved safety pins attaching the pin covers to the new pins went quickly and smoothly every pin snapping into place first try. I have pin basted four quilts with them using the tool.. I just love them. No more sore fingers and blisters from pin basting and removing pins.
