Great product, but hard for smaller hands
I bought these for dipnetting season this year in Alaska. I love all of the different features on them like the fin nipper and gut hook! It made cleaning fish super quick and the fin nipper made it super easy for cutting the fins on my personal use fish. No fumbling around with kitchen scissors trying to cut tail fins! The only complaint that I have is that it is hard to open the scissors fully. My hands are not super big, but they are definitely not small for a woman. I feel like if the company made another size with the finger grips a little smaller and closer to the joint of the scissors, it would be much easier to open them fully and use the fin nippers more easily. But overall, they are really convenient and super easy to clean after your done using them. I also attached a cord (not included) to the small loophole so that I could attach them to my chest waders.

Functional, but could be improved.
For a guy wearing XL gloves, I have to agree with others that it would take the hand of a gorilla to fit this comfortably. However, I knew that before buying! My disappointment is in the main reason I bought them for - cutting the poison-wielding spiked fins off of freshwater catfish before tossing them into my ice chest. I thought for sure that the leverage of this tool would snap off the spikes, but I still have use my wire cutting tool to do the job on larger catfish. This tool does easily trim off the fin easily once the spike is broken, but I wanted one tool to do it all. Well, I don't mind having it as a multipurpose tool, but it does have its limits.

Get these if you might need to stab a fool.
Big, clunky scissors. Very little cutting area, so it isn’t very good at cutting things other than fish. You feel like a real man, or woman holding these things. You can actually hold it like a sword, and the leading edge will cut things. You know those movies where Jenny is all alone at home, and suddenly there’s a sound downstairs of someone breaking in? So Jenny grabs a frowsy pair of scissors, because she doesn’t have any real hardware to inflict serious damage? If Jenny had a pair of these, she’d be fit to bring the pain. If you slash at someone with these, you WILL cut a fool! That being said, I also got some Tansung scissors, and I actually like them a lot better for situations where I don’t need full combat scissors.

Be very careful with exposed knife blade on our edge of scissors
Scissors are very durable.Careful when using what is bad is the knife edge is on outside of scissor and you can get cut very easily from it if you are not careful. The grips on scissors are not wide enough too much pressure put on hand when trying to cut big fish especially the fins and.

Useless unless you have giant hands.
Very unusual handle design. I had read previous reviews stating dislike of the grip, but i liked the design and had to try them myself. I will say i think Gerber did a great job of designing a well thought out pair of fishing utility shears. However with that said, they must have used hands the size of baseball gloves as the intended customer audience. I'm not a big guy, but im no "little person" either - 5'9" 185. These shears are completely useless unless you are Andre the giant! I'm not certain what the rationale in making the grip area on the lower handle so large, (No i take that back - it's not large - it's GINORMOUS)

Sharp and sturdy
Super tuff and sharp, user be careful there is an outside edge on the scissors as well. Use the sheath when not cutting. I used this for bait fish for making cut bait. The scissors go right thru anything, fish scales, bone. High praise

Very big!
I was not expecting these to be this big. I have average to large sized hands and they still feel a little awkward in my hand, especially while in cutting motion. However they do feel sturdy. If you you have small hands but with caution.
