Brighter Child® English and Grammar, Grade 3 (Brighter Child Workbooks) Paperback – May 15, 2006

We homeschool and are getting a lot of the grammar through reading, copywork and writing exercises, but I also wanted to make sure my kids formally covered grammar in this format to help prepare for the STAR test (which we take through our affiliation with a public charter school). I feel like they are getting what they need and so do they! I should also mention that I homeschool 3 different children at different grade levels and this book is very open-and-go, saving us all time. I have my kids read the instructions, look at the examples and complete the exercises. I have them do it in pencil and then I have them ask me any questions as they are working. Once I correct, they can go back through and revise whatever they missed since they wrote in pencil. So far, so good!

It's got good points, but I can typically find better for less on other sources. I bought this to have as an immediate source. I use it as warm ups and extended work. The positive to this book, it's got good white space so it doesn't freak my students.

I love this because its simply presents different grammar rules, and there is one to two page worksheets to cover the rule taught, and its colorful and interesting. NOT a lot of busy work. If your child gets it, you can move on, if not, this gives you a guide as to where you kid might need more help. Very nice workbook.

For $3.99 you can't beat this workbook. We've been using it for about 3 weeks and my son seems to really like it. He doesn't complain about having to do it like some of his other work. We homeschool and I'm using this as extra work to keep him from forgetting what he has learned earlier in the school year.

I should have remembered that the Brighter Child books I've used in the past lack some of the necessary instruction and tend to move a bit more quickly in some areas than I'd like. More time could have been spent on the difficult concepts.That being said, if you use this book as a supplement to your other more comprehensive Language curriculum, it will work perfectly!

I bought this mostly because of the price--but have been pleasantly surprised that it does a good job of covering basic grammar concepts in an engaging way.

I teach esl to adults and any grammar book is a good resource. I like that the lessons are easy for the students to review their grammar.

I am very satisfied with this book, helped a lotwhen reading with the children, the children liked it alsodidn.t find it boring.

Great book. We're a home schooling/educating family and my daughter loves colourful books. so this is a winner. Plenty of practice pages which we will reinforce with our interactive notebooking. Unlike a lot of UK books there's enough pages to last a couple of terms at least.
