I can't believe how happy I am with a $5 toilet handle
I never liked our old toilet handle - it was cheap plastic and someone dripped paint on it years ago. But it was a toilet handle, so what do you expect? Then it broke and I bought this one and it's a huge improvement. It's much sturdier and more well-built, which means it actually does a better job. And it looks much nicer, too!I never expected to have strong feelings about a toilet handle, and yet here we are ...

So easy to install!
This was incredibly simple - as someone who doesn't know much about toilets or fixing them, I replaced the toilet handle in about 30 seconds and it works like a charm!

It's good enough
DANCO Toilet Handle Replacement, Chrome, 8 inch, 1-Pack (80806)This came as part of a package deal with a Fluidmaster 5403 flapper I actually needed. I ended up using it because while my original handle was functional the paint had chipped off from an ex-girlfriends long nails and lack of sense. The handle is nothing special but it works. I bent the arm all over the place because my toilet has the area where the handle sits being on a slight angle and it took some finagling to get it lined up were it didn't pull the flapper off center but that's the stupid design of the toilet, not the handle's fault. And all the bending to get the alignment dialed in and the arm didn't break is my point. There is an oddity I experienced (you can also see in another reviewer's pic) where once installed the handle is angled upwards rather than sitting level/horizontal. I believe I just bent it to where I was happy with it. My leaking flapper was my main concern and the handle was a cosmetic thing that just so happened to come with the flapper and it seemed kind of cheap so I was being a bit cavalier with my treatment of it. But it held up and has been working fine for a week or two now.All in all I'd say not top tier quality but a decent inexpensive handle.

Metal rod and nut
My previous handle was splitting and breaking (all plastic.) I replaced it easily with this rod. It's metal and will unless it corrodes, resist breakage. In case you've never done a replacement, when your handle ceases to flush, or if the handle doesn't seem to work well, the arm on the flush handle may be broken (or off the chain connecting it to the flap.)Eventually with long use, these handles wear out.1. Open the lid and place it somewhere safe (they can break and replacement can be difficult if your toilet is out of production, almost assuredly.)2. The handle is connected to the tank by a fingertight nut. Unscrew this, remove the handle from the chain by the loop at the end and pull the handle arm unit out.3. Unscrew the nut from the new unit and put the handle in. Thread the nut onto the handle4. Attach the chain by the loop at the end through one of the holes; I usually use the last hole on the arm.5. Replace the lid. Test flush. Victory is yours! By the way, sometimes the flap valve wears out and that, too can be replaced. Don't be squeamish about putting your hand in the tank, that water is clean.

4 year life span
Although this handle is made of mostly metal, the handle broke after 4 years of use. This is a much shorter lifespan than the original handle but fortunately it is affordable to replace. We will go with a different brand this time to see if they are all built the same. Note: this was used in the common bathroom which sees more use than our other bathrooms.

It works
It's a toilet handle. Not a lot to admire. It looks good and works fine. If you need a handle, this is a fine option

Absolute garbage, DO NOT BUY!
I have no idea how this product doesn’t have a universal 1 star review. The arm is made from pot metal that is plated to look like copper or bronze. When it was bent only 2 degrees using my bare hands it snapped in 2 places with less than a pound of force at the tip. This means the force from lifting the plunger will also break it in very short time If not immediately after install. For the price I’m not even going to return it but rather throw it in the garbage. But I want to save everyone else the wasted money on something that doesn’t work at all. To be clear installing these handles often requires the arm to be bent a little to get over the plunger and it’s even a part of the install. I was able to take the remaining rod and snap it in my hands with zero effort. I think a child could even do it.Not even joking, this is the worst product I’ve ever purchased on Amazon and that’s really saying something. I ended up ordering a $14 one that had a plastic arm which will survive the tank better and ironically be many times stronger. Please learn from my mistake, I’ll take $5 for the team...You get what you pay for unfortunately. The package even says it’s a brass rod but it’s clearly a Light gray pot metal like pewter and only has a very thin coated film added to make it look brass. Please vote this comment if you found it useful so it moves to the top 🙏
