Toi McKnight's Tale
"If I Was Your Girl" not only dealt with adversities which (unfortunately) many teenage mothers face, it was also entertaining. I was thoroughly impressed by the manner in which the author shared Toi's tale.Struggling to support her eight-month son, Noah, Toi sadly realizes that her dreams of being a "family" were foolish now that Quamir has moved on.Her new role as a mother isn't' what she predicted. She's no longer able to dress in designer clothes and rarely has a babysitter to look after Noah. Toi once dreamt of attending college but now feels like she'll never be more than a teenage parent.Toi's anxiety regarding welfare, her mother's expectations and Qua's refusal to support his son plagues her. She then meets an attractive college student named Harlem, whom she instantly falls for. As the two begin their journey as a couple, they both learn that maintaining their relationship isn't an effortless task.Introduced in "Shortie Like Mine", Cousin Shake is back with a vengeance! He's even more tacky, infuriating and adoring than ever. He's dating a new tenderoni named, Miss. Minnie, a ride or die chick that has his back no matter what.Lastly, there's Miss. Minnie's son. Percy Elwood Jenkins, a/k/a Lil' Bootsy, a self-appointed playa who has the hots for Toi. They're ALL crazy as hell. LOLUnquestionably worthy of five stars. A great read for both the young and old.Anxiously awaiting "Girl Like Mine" next month.

My daughter like it.
Since this book is for teens, I'll rate it according to how my teenagers enjoyed it and how I as a parent felt about it. One of my daughters loved it. My other daughter, didn't care for it. She said it lacked detail, it was too ghetto and too predictable. Both of my daughter's are 17. For me, it was too stereotypical. Lacked imagination and depth. This is an excellent read for readers who like urban literature. It's all a matter of reading choice and reading level. The situations in this book are meant for kids in their late teens, but the simplistic writing style seems to have been written for young teens 13-15.

Another Ni-Ni Classic
This is the story of Toi McKnight who is the twin sister of Seven McKnight. This is a good book but I will admit that Toy will piss you off with her stupidity when it comes to her son's father. But it's a good book and worth the money you won't be disappointed with this book.

A Great Book
It goes deep into the conflicts of teen mothers and its very interesting. Toi was once an immature girl, then obstacles mature her: baby daddy treats her terribly, welfare, getting accepted into college. And let's not forget about her fine love Harlem!
