For the clueless parent
When my kids are having problems doing homework, I can flip through the book, go step-by-step and see where they were right and where they were wong. The light bulb usually turns on for them...mine's still dim.

Great aid for parents -- even if your not homeschooling
Makes checking homework a lot easier than having to do the problems. This is a more comprehensive solution manual than the one that comes with the homeschool packet. It gives the solution as well as the answer Also like that I can help my student find correct track when he's stuck (i.e. each problem is identified with the lesson it pertains to).

The book from hell
The book came on time so I have no problem with the company who sent it. I do however have a big problem with the person who devised this maniacal material. It hops everywhere and each lesson is chock-full of different methods. I have been told that the method behind the madness is to improve the student's ability to switch from skill to skill with ease. My son was doing very well in math and is the sort who masters the skill and moves on. The hodgepodge melee of methods in each lesson confused and frustrated him. He really struggled with it, so I had my father, a 25-year veteran math teacher, sit with him and go over it. I watched my father, who has received many rewards for his teaching, go through the same frustration as my son. He's a straightforward man and I wasn't surprised when he told me it is a crappy book! Unfortunately, this series set my son back in math. He is now in University working towards a mechanical engineering degree. All of his other subjects are extremely easy for him, but I did have to get him caught up with a tutor in Calculus due to this Saxon dude,

Nice to have, probably necessary for homeschooling unless you go over this material frequently.
this has the solution to every problem step by step. Unfortunately it doesn't have the original problem so you have to borrow your child's textbook to look it up. This omission makes it kind of awkward to use.

Well written has steps (but not all the simple steps) ...
Well written has steps (but not all the simple steps) for all the problem sets. This has been helpful for myself and son as he makes his way through the problems

So super helpful
Pros: very helpful, because it writes the problems out. Cons: you have to have the test solutions manual as well, because this is only for the problems in the book. And it's very thick, so hard to carry. But totally worth the money!!!

Excellent help for homeschooling
This is a great help for homeschooling since we have to figure most things out by ourselves. The textbook only provides answers to the odd-numbered questions but not the actual solutions. This book shows the steps to the solutions and includes both odd and even problems. This is a useful companion to an excellent math book.
