Truly inspirational - and hilarious!
Well, I, too, met the Zapps - on Highway 101 North in Marin County, California. I literally ran them off the road, because my husband is from Buenos Aires and I wanted to find out who these crazy Argentines were driving 35 MPH in an ancient car on a super-fast highway. They were amazing: friendly, funny, excited, and so relaxed, considering what they were accomplishing. Since then, my husband has visited them at their home in Argentina, and we have kept in touch with them as they ready themselves for their Asia tour (they are currently in Washington, and Candi is pregnant - again! - on the road). This book goes into harrowing - and, oftentimes, hilarious - detail of their first trip. Its voice is true to the Zapps' personality and outlook on life. I never read the original Spanish-language version, so I cannot compare it to this one. All I can say is, my husband read it in Spanish and I read in English, and we enjoyed it equally. It carries you away to your own dreams.

Wonderful, Inspirational, Uplifting
I've never written a review here before but I feel compelled to do so for this book! I am only a little over halfway through and I am already buying more copies to give as gifts to friends, and to my mom for her retirement/career change gift. I want everyone I know to read it! It is such an enjoyable read that one could read it for enjoyment alone. But the big thing I am getting out of this is exactly the inspiration that Herman and Candelaria meant when they started writing it: to figure out what I want most out of life and to just go for it and make it happen! My husband and I NEVER read the same books but we both read this one after he bought it from them at a festival last fall. He loves it so much that he gets upset if I leave it somewhere that our 2 year old can get it and bend the pages!

An Extraordinary Story By Extraordinary People
Hermann and Cande Zapp have a story to tell you that will have you turning pages far past your bedtime. I met them once, years ago, in Washington DC, when they had but one small child and were on their way to Alaska from Argentina. It seemed at the time like an interesting adventure and they were an engaging pair. That was my first impression . . . until I read their book. I think you will be astonished at the tale they have to tell - a tale that is by no means ended. Write them and they will answer, from somewhere in Canada (or maybe Asia by now). Buy the book and sit down to share their amazing fulfillment of a truly "impossible dream." It is a book you will buy for friends and family, and say "you have GOT to read this!"

Spark Your Dream
My husband & I had the unexpected pleasure of meeting Herman & Candelaria (& their beautiful family )while traveling in South Africa, in Krugar National Park. We actually ran into them again , later in our travels! After hearing their story, I said that they should write a book.Herman said that they had, so I bought my first copy. Loved it! Such adventure, including challenges & words of wisdom. Makes you believe in the goodness of people all over the world. It contains great inspiration for one to achieve their dream, whatever it is. I enjoyed " Spark Your Dream" so much that I purchased 5 more books( online) to give to my family as gifts!

I could not put this book down. The amazing adventure of this couple has to be read to be believed. The story is very uplifting and inspirational. An awesome idea for a gift to anyone who has or wants to travel. You feel like you are there with them. I was fortunate enough to meet this couple and it is true they are so friendly and lovely you just want to help them to complete their dream.

Spark your Dream
A very enjoyable read in spite of the translation into English which lost some of the sparkle in the Spanish version. I am looking forward to the next instalment covering the Australia & New Zealand adventure

Truly enjoyed it.
I truly enjoyed this book. I found it inspirational. I was starting on a long distance bike tour, and it gave me real insight into what I could expect. I found that there are people out there wanting to help you achieve your dream.

Lost in translation.
It's such a shame that the English translation is absolutely riddled with errors.I've only just started the book (just completed the first chapter), *and*, it is an expensive one at that (for such an impulse purchase) - but these are good people and I wanted to support them.And..... I 'm a BIG believer in dreaming big and going for things. So, I do recommend this book, it's not very well written to be honest, but it is evident that these people have good hearts, so I'm sticking with it and am enjoying following them on their journey.(in fact, to a degree, the poor translation, sometimes laughable, adds to the fun of the book !).I know there'll be LOTs of important life-lesson messages imbued within it !

Living life in the "Adventurous" lane
Read the book before this becomes a film, which it surely will. For the past decade Herman & Candelaria Zapp have been travelling the world with their faithful old car and an increasing number of children (4 at last count)! They started with the idea of backpacking through the Americas before settling down to a conventional life. They came by an opportunity to restore and use a vintage car, and so their life-changing journey began.I met Herman and Candelaria and their first born, then a babe, in Yosemite in 2003. They had self-published a small booklet at that stage and wrote Spark Your Dream some time later. I bought several copies of the book at the first opportunity and shared them out amongst friends. It really is the best travel book I have ever read and knowing that it is such a real story makes it all the better. They haven't had to embellish any of their stories, just tell it as it is, taking their car over mountain ranges, through jungles, across rivers and seas, and meeting such wonderful people all along the way. They are a one-car, one-family, United Nations - crossing borders and continents and proving that all over the world people are the same: kind-hearted, warm, giving, and sharing. If you have the opportunity to read this book - whether you buy it or borrow it - you will enjoy every minute of it.

most inspiring travel book ever
I cannot recommend this book enough, it gives a renewed hope for human nature and inspiration to the reader through the true determination of a young couple fulfilling their childhood dream. Very well written and beautifully laid out the format makes for easy reading, with a story so amazing you just cannot put the book down.
