Nobody tells it like it is better than George
Nobody tells it like it is better than George. And he's always right. A great collection of his coveted opinions on just about everything in the Hunter/Jumper world.

Classic George Morris. Easy read and to the point. I just love anything he writes. He knows so much. His comments are invaluable.

Because Every Rider Counts
I read this book cover to cover looking for the wisdom that George Morris is known for. Sadly, I read article after article criticizing "today's riders". I have been riding and showing for 25 years (just a short amount of time compared to the author, of course!) but was offended as he seems to dismiss the idea that there are any truly well-rounded riders being trained today. In part I agreed but wonder if the horses and riders Mr. Morris seeks may be found outside his fairly limited realm of rated horse shows where, more and more, money is the deciding factor. In the rest of the country riders have a limited budget for purchase, training, and care and have finely groomed their other skills. Less wealthy riders can be found who have keen riding skills as well as incredible ability to select, train, and provide expert home care for fine, sound jumping prospects from the racetrack, rescue organizations, and even slaughter sales. Many are showing against and beating "A" and "B" circuit competitors when they stoop to the schooling/open shows. Meanwhile, riding and training in the Midwest leaves many prospects and riders ignored when it comes time for A circuit riders to go horse shopping. Considering these circumstances Mr. Morris adds insult to injury by suggesting that good riders and good prospects don't exist anymore; riders throughout the midwest are trying hard to get noticed despite limited budgets! While extremely wealthy riders are showing for weeks on end breaking their horses down, others are rescuing and rehabilitating, and improving on their horsemanship any way they can, like reading books in search of new and valuable information. Sadly, I cannot recommend this read for improving equitation or horsemanship.

Audio Versions needed for all George Morris & Equestrian books!
George Morris is THE expert in the hunter/equitation/jumper riding world. We compete actively and spend hundreds of hours driving to horse shows each year. MP3 audio versions of these helpful books would truly increase absorption by the busy riders, trainers, owners and even licensed officials who would benefit from the knowledge.

Great compilation - bad editing
I think this concept is great. George Morris has said so many memorable things in the past, it's nice to have many of his writings in one place. However, my only disappointment was with the editing. I have come across many typos, including words missing so sentences don't make sense. It's a shame that such a great book could be marred by something that's so easily managed. Otherwise, good book and I recommend it to others.

Because every round counts is a must read for every horseman or rider or judge or steward or breeder. George's opinions and comments and observations are bang on correct. it is about the principles in our industry and how our industry needs to realign with correct riding for the best interest of the horses.
