Inexpensive and powerful
Just the handheld light I'd been looking for. Works great for indoor portraits, to lighten those shadows. Very easy to use. Comes with a remote ( if you can't find it, it is in a small pocket on the outside of the carrying case). Ends are slightly rounded, I would prefer if it had at least one that was flat so you could stand it up on a table, if you didn't want to use a tripod.

Not what was pictured
I didn't receive the remote with mine even though it shows on the box. Also its name is Travor on the box so I'm kinda confused why it was a venturmax that I ordered. Also I received a ac adaptor but not the one pictured that's supposed to charge the battery I thought. So I am not sure if when I plug it in to the ac adaptor if it charges the battery too. Kinda upsetting considering I am using it for a wedding tomorrow. I do like the light itself but I'm gonna really be made if its not charged!

Wires from the main ckt board to the LED strip are very thin - not very sturdy. The LIGHT is very harsh
This unit is very bright but made incredible cheaply internally. Wires from the main ckt board to the LED strip are very thin - not very sturdy. The LIGHT is very harsh, it needs diffusion - massively good diffusion... I had to buy and make my own tube for light diffusion.

Excellent value of the money - great flexible light source
I ordered two units. Just received them. My biggest concern was what the build quality and finish of the units would be at this price point - but the concern was needless. These feel very solid in hand feel built to last. We'll have to see what the real durability of the lights are after a couple of shoots. The light emitted is as expected, it is very bright and the built in dimmers work well. There are other modes where the lights will flash, etc. Not really useful unless you get stuck in a snow bank. The only thing I would change on the lamp is that the base that has the tripod hole is not flat, but bowl shaped. This means additional stress on the screw holding the instrument to the support. I am planning to use these with Manfrotto Nano stands, we'll see how that works out.All and all, very pleased with the lights,

Charging is annoying
It's annoying because you have to remember to charge it lol kinda wish it had batteries as another option.

cell phone pictures taken with portable handheld light
This is an awesome light!! I wanted to get the Ice Light but like most people, spending 400+ on one hand held light is hard to do. I just couldn't justify spending that much for this type of lighting. I love the remote controller too, that's something I wasn't expecting to come in so handy. So, even though the light is great and I will be getting more... the color is not that great the orange is too orange and when you remove it, it's too blue. It's not a true white color so you'll have to work around that part. The pictures added were taken with a cell phone and not edited, so you can see the light coverage and color. On both pictures the orange cover was removed.

Great alternative to the Ice Light!
I bought this when I was looking for a cheaper alternative to the Westcott Ice Light. My main use for it is for portraiture and automotive light painting. So far, I absolutely love using it. The only thing I did was put black tape around the back half of it to prevent light leaking onto the back side of the tube. I ended up winning an Ice Light 2 in a giveaway and can honestly say that the performance of the MTL-900 II is right on par. So if you're looking for a cheaper alternative to the Ice Light that performs very similarly, I'd highly recommend getting this! I used it to light this shot: https://www.flickr.com/photos/__max/16651756919
