Amazing results - brought old sheepskin back to life.
The media could not be loaded. We’ve a 16-year-old New Zealand sheepskin which daughter has used since she was a baby, in the pram, on the floor to sleep/play, now as a bedroom mat. At some point when she was about three, I completely ruined it by boil washing it because I was ignorant of sheepskin care. Anyway, it’s survived since, but it’s been hard papery and yellow, there was a lot of ingrained dirt. The pile was very flat and matted, I’ve bought shampoos over the years nothing worked- but I’m very attached to this sheepskin.I recently let the dogs have it for a couple of weeks but couldn’t bear the thought of it :-) as they have their own Skyeskins already and so decided to have one last try at renovating it.I’ve had sheepskin shampoos before and was pleasantly surprised at the measuring bottle, it’s such a novelty and really useful.I’ll keep the bottle because it will be great for measuring fabric conditioner etc in exact quantities!Shampoo is quite a nice consistency you don’t need very much, it’s easy to be tempted to put more but don’t.I wish I had taken a ‘before’ picture of this crispy grey/yellow hard matted sheepskin, but unfortunately didn’t, as I truly wasn’t expecting such amazing results.I used the suggested quantity to make up a solution in about 10 L of warm water and left the sheepskin to soak in the bath for quite a long time, agitating and massaging through the pile, and turning.I forgot to brush through it first, but maybe I’ll try that next time.I then did a wool wash and use the suggested quantity in the drawer, then gently shook the fleece and let it dry indoors. I did hang it on the line for a couple of hours on a warm day when it wasn’t blazing sunshine.I’m so delighted with the results, the video doesn’t do it justice. It’s so soft, lustrous and beautiful- I put it next to a new ish sheepskin and it looks even better (it was expensive at the time)The back of it isn’t all hard yellow and papery any more, I was frightened it would start to tear, but it seems to have renovated the whole thing. In a couple of months time I’ll gently brush through again and maybe repeat the process, the wool actually has a slight sheen too! It is completely unrecognisable to when I started the process.Sorry to go on, but I really hope this helps somebody who is thinking about it. I think the key thing that made the difference was actually soaking the skin first and gently massaging now and again I think I probably left it for a good six or seven hours.Confession time - I bought this because you get twice the amount of product than other makes but on reading the ingredients they are pretty much identical.Bottom line is if you’re thinking about it, just buy it, don’t worry about the description saying it’s for horses stuff because it’s worked absolutely beautifully better than anything I’ve ever tried before. Thank you so much, highly recommended I’m absolutely delighted, actually speechless!

Works really well
Washed a very dirty sheepskin numnah in the washing machine. Firstly on a gentle wool wash but wasn't perfect. So did another 30° quick wash and it's come up lovely. Smells fresh too.

Heads Up - contains Triclosan
This might well be a great sheepskin detergent but, as I didn’t use it, I cannot review that aspect. I just wanted to highlight that, for others who want to know what is in the products they use, this one includes Triclosan. This is not mentioned in the description nor are there photos of the reverse label. I returned it swiftly and gratefully received a full refund within a short time. Delivery and return were both hassle free.
