Great sharpener for pastel pencils
as an artist, I am always looking for good pencil sharpeners for my pastel pencils. Some of the brands I use have really hard-core, and this sharpener works well. I have bought a few so far.

LOVE this sharpener
This is the only sharpener that works on my pastel pencils. It never breaks off the tips and sharpens them to a fine point.

Blades for the BEST pencil sharpener for Pastel Pencils!
I have used/tried about 11 different pastel pencil sharpeners on the market. Some electric, some battery operated and some just hand or crank model. These blades are for the BEST Sharpener I have ever used! Pastels dull all blades quickly. So replacement blades are a must! This Swordfish sharpener gets a fine point on a pastel pencil, consistently and with incredible precision. Be sure to sharpen a few leaded pencils after about every 7-10 pastel pencil sharpenings to lubricate the blade. I am a wildlife artist using pastels and oils. Being able to get a sharp fine point on a pastel pencil is critical to achieving whiskers and fine hair. This is my "go to" sharpener!!!

Works great until it doesn't
I was looking for a specific sharpener for pastel pencils. I use 2 popular brands. Pitt and Stabilo.Pastel pencils are touchy, Pitt is slightly harder than Stabilo which is softer, but the principle is the same. They are not graphite and they are definitely different than colored pencil. When I originally bought my Swordfish Ikon, I was so excited it sharpened my pastel pencils nicely and got a point I'd never had before. I also had control over that point and it was sturdy due to its extra piece to hold it to a table. After about 20 pencils it started to jam. I was able to open it easily and get it back to working. It did maybe 5 more pencils, then it started breaking the points inside. It felt loose like it was old. I am not hard on my materials so I expected more from this sharpener. I am embarrassed I told everyone of my fellow pastel artists about this sharpener. I'm afraid to try a new barrel because I'll be that much more out of $ if it only does 20 more pencils. I wish I had seen that beginning review of all the pencils that customer tried recently. I'm very disappointed.
