Fire and Ice superb read
This second book followed straight on from the first. Quick paced, interesting twists. Tremendous detail in the study of cats. I would thoroughly recommend this book to anyone.

More challenges for Fireheart and Thunderclan
Fire and Ice, the second book in the Warriors series about four clans of cats living in the wild is just as good as the first book of the series. It follows the adventures of Fireheart (who appeared in the first book as Firepaw, the domesticated cat – the clans call them ‘kittypets’ – who ran away from home to join Thunderclan in their home in the wild). This is evidently a series intended for younger readers. However, I didn’t find it at all oversimplified. There was great character development and just the right amount of action.I have seen the series compared to the Redwall series, which is also an adventure series for young people. There are some similarities, although there are many differences too. The feral cats in the Warriors series for the most part do things that are almost believable for real cats living in the wild, whereas the Redwall characters live and act much more like humans, although adhering mostly to the personality types of the various animals. Sadly, the Warriors series, at least so far, doesn’t have any characters quite comparable to the baby animal Dibbuns of Redwall, although, with the introduction of the younger kittens like Cinderpaw and Fireheart’s young nephew, Cloudkit, they are coming closer.Fireheart is now a full-fledged Warrior, and he begins to embark on more grown-up adventures. He and his friend, Graystripe, are sent to find the missing Windclan, who disappeared before the start of the first book and bring them back to their territory. They are assigned their first very young apprentices. Fireheart gets the feisty Cinderpaw for an apprentice and has a difficult time controlling her. Graystripe falls in love, and Tigerclaw remains a sinister threat while seeming to have the clan’s best interests at heart. There are many other challenges too. It’s a difficult winter there in the forest. But Thunderclan keeps trying to overcome all obstacles.
