I bought this for my third grade classroom and they love it!

Hi I'm Ethan. I picked this book because it was one of the best books I have ever read. Kyle wants to be a hockey player like his brother,Caleb. His teammates don't seem to like him much at first, but at the end of the book, Kyle helps them win their game by scoring a hat trick and then everyone likes him. Even his brother!I like this book because hockey is my favorite sport and I like to read books about hockey.

I selected three Jake Maddox hockey books for my first-grade grandson as part of his Easter basket. He absolutely loves the books and is reading them almost totally on his own. I hope there are more Jake Maddox books on the way. Books about interests for boys and specifically for early elementary age are hard to find.

I love Jake Maddox's books! I am a fourth grade teacher with a handful of struggling readers. They like to "look" impressive with their book choices but often times can't really understand the higher level texts. These books are lower level, higher interest so they are accessible to lots of readers. There are TONS in Jake Maddox's series - even for girls.
