Babar and Father Christmas (Babar Series)
C**.
This is a classic children’s Christmas story.
I read this book as a child and have now passed it on to my youngest grandchildren. Their has read it to them. By second or third grade, they should be able to read this on their own and then enjoy it for years.

A Lovely Book for Children
It's just a delightful book, with wonderful illustrations. It's the story of Babar's quest to find Father Christmas and ask him to bring gifts to the elephant children. After several amusing false leads, Babar falls through a hole in the ground into Father Christmas's home/workshop. As a child, I just loved looking at the diagram of the secret underground building. In the end, Babar is deputized to deliver gifts to the elephant children, and Father Christmas gets a summer vacation in the elephant kingdom.

enduring classic
I am 37 and still have this book from my childhood. (Sadly I think my mom gave away my other Barbar books but this one escaped) I keep it with the Christmas stuff and read it every year. Cute story about babar meeting father Christmas. Just different enough of a st nick description to be fun but not so off as to make children question the existence of Santa Claus. Bright beautiful illustrations.I recently bought another copy for my niece.

when elephants fly
pommes frittes, the eiffel tower, m-83, babar - sometimes the french just plain get it right. a lot of copy for today's standards but stick with it - it's worth it - a charmer. really takes me back to my childhood as a french school boy in short pants. just kidding.

All barbar books are terrific
This review is for barbar books in general, not particular this one.My 5yo daughter requested me to buy the barbar books because it was her favorite in Kindergarten classroom but the teacher never had enough time to read them. I bought 6 barbar books, this is one of them. These are beautifully illustrated classical books that shall never gone out of fashion. They greatly exceeded my expectations.

Hardcover version has thin pages; otherwise a classic
This was a Christmas gift, and I wish the hardcover version were a bit higher-quality. The pages are very thin, and you can see through them to the next page. I think many people buy this as a gift or a keepsake book, so it's a bummer that the quality feels a little cheap. The book itself - the content and illustrations - are wonderful; I remember it from my childhood.

classic Babar
My daughter is babysitting for a bright but difficult four year old. The travels of this kingly elephant and his family, along with the intricate illustrations really hold the child's interest. This is a beautiful, over-size book that I hope always remains in print. The blend of the fantastical and the practical is wonderful.
