A Must Have for SeaDoo Owners
I have a pair of SeaDoos with the Supercharged 4Tec Motors. I don’t mind maintenance tasks, but like many folks, I have a busy schedule and would prefer to just be out on the water versus watching oil slowly drain for a half hour. I’m also completely over the $5 Harbor Freight hand pump solution for changing oil in any marine engine.I got this pump/bucket contraption and went to work changing the oil. The provided tubing perfectly fits the modern SeaDoo dipstick. I made no changes or alterations to the hose. However, I did use a sharp knife and make a scratch mark 18.75 inches from the end of the extraction tube. I did this so I could determine the correct amount of hose to insert in the dipstick. You could also easily use a zip tie for this purpose. The supplied electrical cables also required no modification. My SeaDoos (‘18 GTR-Xs) were on a dual trailer and I was able to put the bucket on the ground, connect the electrical to the battery and put the extraction tube in the dipstick with plenty of hose and electrical to move around easily. Results: This pump emptied each SeaDoo of oil in about 2.5 minutes. Granted the proper change procedure from SeaDoo states you should turn the engine over 10 seconds at a time in drown mode to flood more oil to the sump. (Remove extraction tube for this procedure) I did until I saw no more oil extracted (four times).Once I had the oil all extracted, it was easy to pour the old oil into the recycle bin and seal it back up for the next use.One thing to note is the pump is mounted on an offset on the lid. This makes carrying the bucket by the handle awkward at best. The pump wants to rapidly flip the bucket over. When you have a gallon or two of oil in the bucket this is no longer an issue, but it’s worthy of noting. Also, I was concerned this pump would literally kill the onboard battery. To test this theory I extracted the oil from both skis using only one Doo’s battery. No issues resulted. The Doo had plenty of power to start right up.

Worth the Money
I have used this pump three times now, to pump oil out of WaveRunners. Yes you need to start the engine to warm the oil, and your going to do that after oil change to check oil level anyway. Super simple to change oil and don’t have to spend $200 plus to take it in have it changed, and have to haul the ski in for service.Pumps out oil very easily. Connecting to battery makes it easy to not have to run extension cords. Pump sits on rubber grommets bolted to lid which reduces vibration. Extraction hose plenty long enough.Definitely spend the money on oil absorbent pads, it makes the job way cleaner from removing filter, put it under filter before removal, to setting oily stuff on top of them. If you are using rags or paper towels you are really missing out on the benefit of oil absorbent pads.I also purchased a 1 quart oil measuring pitcher, graduated in ounces, to accurately see how much I pumped out. After oil change I used this to put oil back in. I buy oil in one gallon containers so this lets me see exactly how much oil I am putting back. I also poured 8oz of oil into new filter and when I added up what I poured back in it exactly matched the owners manual of how much oil to pour in when doing an oil change with filter. When measuring oil for final oil level be sure to get the engine up to operating temp. The oil does take up more volume when it is hot vs cold. You don’t want to over fill. This unit already paid for itself. It makes changing oil a breeze. Always using the right tools for the job make the job less frustrating, less time consuming and more enjoyable.

Easy oil change for Nautique, but may need to buy thinner tube
I bought this to easily change the oil on my boat (2016 Super Air Nautique G23). This engine requires frequent oil changes and changing the oil on the dock using the SHURflo is a great option. I've used it twice now and have the following feedback: it works great and is pretty easy to use (as described). I love that I can connect it to the boat's battery AND that you can run the pump 'dry' without having to prime it like a lot of others. The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is because I had to buy a thinner tube to fit all the way into my boat's oil pan. The tube that comes with this unit (while perhaps is a standard size) is too thick to get to the bottom of the oil pan / sump. Each engine is different, but I trust that others have this same issue, so be prepared for this. The tubing is inexpensive and it would be an easy solution if SHURflo simply provided tubing one size smaller than the tubes that are standard with the unit (don't recall exact sizes, but hopefully SHURflo takes note and includes this as an add-on in future). Other things to note: since the tube is thinner (if that's the case with your boat / car), it's even more important that the oil is warm before draining (otherwise, if the oil is too cool or viscous, it can take more than an hour to fully drain). Overall, great product and works really well now that I have a thinner tube.

Made my oil change quick and painless!
I have a pair of Chevy 305’s in my boat. I warmed each one up for 10-15 minutes to get them up to operating temperature. The extraction tube just fit down the dipstick tube (was a tight fit). Pushed it in until I could feel it hit the bottom of the oil pan. I started the pump, and it took no more than about 7 minutes per engine to extract the 4-5 quarts of hot oil. This oil changer paid for itself in just one oil change! I would highly recommend this product.I marked “durability” with 5 stars, even though I just used it once so far. That’s because the build and materials quality both seem to be solid. Another reviewer mentioned that if (when empty) picking it up by the handle it tended to want to tip over, since it’s top heavy. I experienced this issue, but I image if you had a gallon of oil in it, it would be more stabile. I didn’t lift it with the pump lid in place, but I took it off to transport the oil bucket. I also didn’t use the 3 gallon bucket provided, since it was my first time using it to remove oil from both motors, and I wasn’t sure how full it would get. After looking at the amount of oil extracted into my 5 gallon bucket, I’m sure it would easily fit into the 3 gallon bucket.
