A really useful tool
Works great, I finished all my popcorn ceilings(about 1200 sq.foot) with this tool, and got a good result. Easy to use. Reliable.

A real mess and time saver!!
This tool worked excellent for me. I'd estimate at least 97 % of the mess falls right in the bag. I did a 16' x 16' room so far and I was squirting the water and removing the texture and working around furniture ( covered of course ) I think if you had a clear room and a helper wetting it this size room could have been done in well under 1/2 hour. I used plastic bags from the grocery store doubled up just in case and I changed bags 3 times which was no big deal with the supplied clips. This tool won't get closer than about an inch from the wall because of the frame for the bag. They need to have a smaller version of this tool with the frame flush with the scraper to get right to the wall. You may get a little bit missing the bag this way but it would help I think with even less mess. I did take a file and round the sharp corners before I started as per the advice here. I maybe got a couple extremely small diggers in the drywall but nothing very minor touch up with putty didn't fix. After reading all the negative reviews and people having trouble with it, I was tempted to make a video of me using it right out of the box for an honest review... I didn't bother but I wish I had. I was praising this tool right from the first swipe. That's the good news. The bad news is your still left with a powdery residue that needs to be sanded or at least I was. I used an electric orbital sander and only needed one light pass over the entire ceiling but what a dusty mess. I have a lot more to do thru out our house and won't attempt this again without a sanding/vacuum attachment. I sealed up the room including door cracks etc. put a fan in a window and that wasn't too bad but this was by far the worst part of the job. But as far as the popcorn texture and this tool , I highly recommend it for the price.

Cuts down the time and the mess.
Works very well and reduces the mess. Make sure you hold it so that it is very flat to the ceiling or it will dig into the drywall paper. I used a small kitchen garbage bag and emptied it often. If you let it get too heavy it becomes difficult to hold the blade to the ceiling. The wider blade makes the work quicker but if the ceiling isn’t evenly flat you need to make several passes. Overall it is a very good product. I recommend it.

Surprisingly helpful!
Used this scraper for the first time today. Wasn't to sure what to expect. Here are my pros and cons. PROS: Pretty sturdy design. Like that it has a place to add an extension handle. Quickly takes down the popcorn ceiling. CONS: The handle bends a bit and needs to be re-adjusted over a few uses. If you think your going to use bags larger than a standard grocery bag, think again. Once you wet your ceiling and start scraping, the bag gets heavy and and to much popcorn will cause the bag to start slipping off. As long as you stick with grocery bags you will be fine. Another issue I had was with the clips that hold the bags on ( see pics ). This only comes with 6 small clips and if your not careful they can actually fall inside the bag and you end up losing them in the trash. These clips look like the plastic binder strips you used in school when you turned in an essay that was in those plastic covers and you needed to bind one side. The company should include extras but don't. OVERALL: I would still recommend this scraper. But those binder clips at Office Depot for a dollar or two. No biggie. This also kept the mess to a huge minimum! Overall I am happy. It does what it is meant to do.

Does not work
This item is heavy and is too wide. Most of the spackle falls onto the floor and not in the bag. It damages the ceiling. You are better to use a 4" or 6" scraper and a spray bottle of water. Much cheaper and more effective. I ordered one and was sent two. Unfortunately it is too late to return either.Zero rating actually
