Great overall camera and customer service
I originally purchased this closer to the release date on a larger SUV to replace my older street guardian cam. One thing that immediately put me on hold was the short USB cord for the rear cam. I had to contact customer service and purchase a longer cord. Second, I find the app to be kind of buggy and very slow, especially over wifi. It is much easier to remove the SD card to transfer onto a computer. Overall, I still do recommend this brand for its customer service, and have had to use the video in several incidents already.

You can trust this product and the support
I'm really impressed by this company - the most conscientious and thorough I've seen in years. Add to that, they are disciplined enough to prioritize features and do the basics very well. This goes to something deep: a group of people who truly care about their product. They see it as more than just a way to make money. Deep claims from a random customer! Here's how I came to this conclusion:- I'm an absolute beginner, and not handy. And I got it up and running in a week without a professional installer. (Yep, I'm not quick. But there were no gotchas in the process.)- When I was stumped, I re-read the manuals (both for the device and the hardwire kit.) Usually, I had left something out that was clearly explained in the manual. When I didn't find the answer in the manuals, I searched "Dashcam talk forums," where they maintain an active presence. Within a few hours of reading forum posts, I'd find the solution.- Throughout that research, the Street Guardian employees were always patient, unassuming, and never defensive. In one case, they figured out they'd mislabeled a cable on the hardwire kit. They owned up to it right away and took action to prevent that from happening again. I have an automotive/quality background and I can say with confidence that this kind of attitude towards problem-solving is world-class.Why I recommend this brand over all the others:- They prioritized durability in both extreme cold and hot temperatures. Writing from Detroit, I'm only concerned about the cold, but it'll handle down to 12 deg F. This means I can set it and forget it for all but about two weeks in the year.- They carefully planned all the default settings and clearly highlight the defaults in the manual. So, even if you have no idea how a dashcam works, you can pretty much slap it on and go.- Good value. They prioritized getting the most bang for the buck, so they stuck with 1080p because the fancier ultra hd would require a faster processor, generate more heat, and is too expensive given the results right now. What went well:- I have a portable car battery charger with a cigarette lighter slot, so I was able to test the device out of the box on my kitchen table. This was especially nice given the cold winter & no access to a heated garage.- I was worried about software to view the videos, and local storage to save the videos. Turns out those concerns are completely irrelevant: Windows comes with software that will let you watch & speed through a 5 minute segment in a few seconds and you can set it to autoplay the next segment. And there's no need to save any files to the PC unless you have an accident or witness an accident and want to send a file somewhere.- Setting up the rear camera and pushing the cable under the roof of the interior was a snap. I mean, there was nothing to it! Easiest part of the whole process. (except for my slight misplacement of the device.)Where I got stumped / My mistakes / near misses:- I couldn't figure out a way to temporarily stage the devices on the windshield / back window. I read the manual & knew I needed some room to insert/remove the SD card on the left, but it was difficult to test without actually sticking it up. I installed it, found there was not enough room to insert/remove the SD card, and then re-installed it. Pain the ass. Needed "goo-be-gone" and a razor to get the gunk off the windshield. That was the worst part about the installation. Thank you for providing a backup sticker for people like me that installed it twice.- Similar for the rear camera. Thank God I placed the thing in between the window heating elements (this definitely deserves a comment in the manual!), since I almost had to re-position it as well. I offset it slightly to the left of the rear brake light at the top of the rear window, but not enough to the left. So the cable I use does an awkward u-turn before getting under the cabin roof. Again, if you guys could find some way to temporarily stage it enough to try it before permanently placing it...- GPS wasn't working for me initially. I guess very few people have this problem, because I searched for hours before finding a post by a Street Guardian employee about pushing the jack deep into the slot (and hearing a little click) in order for it to work. Maybe that comment deserves a place in the manual. Once I pushed it in hard, it worked like a charm.Hardwire Kit:- Note: the hardwire kit is optional, only necessary if you don't was to use the cigarette lighter to power the thing and you want it to keep running while parked & the vehicle is turned off.- Move the following instruction to the front of the manual, and maybe repeat it twice: "Do NOT attempt to install this hard wire kit until you go into settings and change the 'Power Input' from two-wire to three-wire. Keep the cigarrete charger handy in case you forget. If you forget, it will not work." This would have saved me a few hours of getting it wrong.- For us sorry non-handy people who don't really understand ohm-meters, It'd be nice if the hard-wire manual stated that an ohm-meter is required, that you'll need to ground it to the car, and to set the ohm-meter to 20V while checking car fuses. If the reader doesn't have an ohm-meter and doesn't want to buy one & learn how to use it, then they know they have to go to best-buy or a car-stereo installer or the car dealership in order to get it done. The rough edges:- I wish it was location-aware so I didn't have to turn off the power manually when the car's in my garage. (only applies to the optional hard-wire kit installation.) Not a show-stopper, since it comes with a volt-meter to protect the car's battery. But still...it's just a waste when I forget. Until then...I put a sticky on the door leading into the house asking whether or not I remembered to turn it off and asking myself if I really want to film the interior of my garage for a couple hours. I'm thankful it beeps before switching to parking mode, which is usually enough to remind me.- Not a big fan of the "two-wire" vs "three wire" setting. After I got it hard-wired, I could no longer bring it inside and use my portable car battery charger to mess with settings. Unless I turn on the car & change the setting back to two-wire. It'd be nice if that setting could just go away. Can you get it to auto-sense the power input?- Not a fan of the "Novacam" iOS app to leverage the wifi functionality. It's a Chinese software developer. Can you find a European-developed iOS app? No offense to China, but their idea of the corporate & state right to access my private information is culturally VERY different from mine. I do not trust any OS or app developed in China by the Chinese. Not paranoia on my part: Google "Lenovo Caught (3rd Time) Pre-Installing Spyware on its Laptops" to see what I mean.- Instructions for the wifi functionality are too thin to be useful. And looking at the screen settings for wifi, I'm not sure where the password starts. Small thing, given that I'm not sure there's a way to get the photos directly from the dashcam to my iPhone given that I refuse to install the Novacam app. Haven't spent any time researching this feature yet.- Not sure I like the viewer downoaded from the website for use on my PC. Is it Internet-explorer based? In three or four separate windows? It has an unfinished feel to it. And if it's IE-based, it makes me uncomfortable from a security perspective. Haven't spent a lot of time with it, just tried it once.Overall, I'm thankful for Streetguard and its employees. Great product, best out there for the money. Yes, it has some rough edges, but only in those areas where they are pushing into newer & greater functionality. They do the basics very, very well. And that's the most important thing. And the support is better than anything I've seen in years, possibly ever. You pretty much can't go wrong by choosing this product.

Compact camera with great video - installed in Prado
Video quality looks great. The cameras are much smaller than I expected. Installation of the front camera and GPS was fine in a Toyota Prado TX-L (2015, 7 seater, RHD) but the read camera was a more challenge - my fault for blanking that the rear door opens on the right side. The 6m cable for the rear camera was a bit short if threaded along the floor but had 20cm to spare when threaded through the roof on the drivers' (= right) side, behind the airbags in the pillars. The challenges came when passing it down to the rubber conduit between the body and the rear door, through a hole in the conduit on the body end (taped tightly where the cables for the read lights and wipers entered the conduit) and out the door end, then back up to the top of the window. An opened wire coat hanger helped pass it up inside the door to the top of the window. I wish I had known that the plastic interior panel in the center above the window needs to be pried off first - I started with the side interior panel and lost one of the clips, because in fact the center panel covers up the ends of each side panel. The extras (extra mounting tape, cable holders, polarizing filter, 3m and 6m options for rear cable, etc) are extremely helpful.Searched and searched for installation of the rear camera in a Prado - surprised to find nothing, despite all the Prados sold in Australia.Update after 2 months and one accident: both cameras are working well and video footage is quite clear for both, tho have only looked at daytime video. Had an accident last weekend that pointed out a slight challenge with the cameras - actually viewing videos. The screen is nice but oriented as it is (essentially one needs to look up to see the screen) in the daytime it is hard to make anything out without pulling the camera off the mount, and even then it is hard to make anything out. Moving videos to another device is a bit awkward. Naturally one needs to pull out the SD card and, using an adapter, slide it into a laptop. Both software programs recommended - Dashcam Viewer and Registrator Viewer - are not so easy to use. Dashcam Viewer seems to have issues with recognizing and playing the rear camera video on some travel segments (why?) and Registrator Viewer is no longer maintained (sadly, the developer died in a motorcycle accident ...). In the end it iTunes or any other standard video viewer might be as good as the 2 viewers - the bells and whistles of maps, etc fade if one can't view a needed video. Ironically the best way to get screen shots seems to be through a print screen of video on iTunes, cropped in Photoshop elements. That way the date and time stamp is clear, not so with trying to pull a frameshot from Registrator (since the key accident video was a rear camera clip that Dashcam Viewer wouldn't recognize, I haven't tried it with that program). Since when dealing with police or others on the street, using a computer is not so easy or efficient, it would also help to have an easy way to get video segments on one's smartphone. The SanDisk iXpand saves the day in transferring video and frameshots from my laptop to my iPhone (it may be only a simple setting, but the cable connect seems to be read-only for the phone). Street guardian should try to beef up wifi links and improving software for phone or computer.

Like most of these cameras'
I like this camera but, I don't know why the manufacturers can't make them easier to use. Multy function buttons the size of a grain of rice on an item installed behind yout car morror are very hard to operate. The Screen is very small. The rear camera view appears to work on a picture in picture principle but it displays using ΒΌ of teh very small screen making what you are seeing confusing. On the plus side, the camera came with all cables for basic set up. The wires of of good quality, not flimsy! I recommend ordering the extra wiring harness that allows direct connection to fuse panel) instead of the power socket ( AKA cigarette lighter slot). The camera came with auseful trim tool to aid in the concealment of the wiring. The tool was welcomed and made the job easier and much faster and help protect the rubber trim and interior apolstery. The camera also came with a larger then minimum recommended micro USB card. The system recomends a 64 card minimum and my camera came with a 128GB card. IYou will need to format the card before the camera will work though!

How can you go wrong?
In my life, I have never had customer service like theirs'. With all of this COVID-19 stuff going on, I still got a response to my inquiry in two minutes. No, seriously - two minutes. No exaggeration, not in the slightest.Cameras look great, image quality is fantastic, install was dandy, and the customer service... what more could you ask for? You can't go wrong with these guys.

Completely satisfied with my Street Guardian purchase and Amazon's quick shipping.
Package arrived as scheduled with the 2 day free shipping as my order was complete and undamaged. The Street Guardian SG9663DC is carefully packaged and offers options for the rear camera cord and extra sticky pads for those who mess up attaching the mounting bracket to the glass like I tend to do ;(. I installed the first SC9663DC in the wife's Toyota Highlander without any wire exposed except the last little bit where the power plugs into the power socket. I used the extra long cord for the back camera of course. I mounted the camera in the middle of the back window with exposed cord there due to necessity giving that either the back window can be opened or as the whole rear lift gate opens needing free cable for the movement of the camera when opening. We are very satisfied with the both cameras quality and performance. Once she seen what the camera's were capturing she was very happy and she like s that she has nothing to do with operating them makes her happy as well. "Set it and forget it" is her kind of her motto. I did use the wifi connecting to my smartphone to optimize each camera's aiming without difficultly.Second Camera InstallationI installed this SC9663DC in our Infiniti Q60 RedSport with the optional SGDCHW 3 Wire kit without any wire exposed at all. The optional SGDCHW hardwire kit for this camera set was important to me for this install as I wanted it to be super clean with no exposed wires anywhere. Mission accomplished!! And actually to only place where I could source the kit with the correct fuse ends was thru Amazon therefore this was key with placing my first order thru Amazon. The hardwire kit is supposed to provide a time lapsed Parking Mode capture but I still haven't managed to get that feature working. The manual gave me the impression this feature would be completely automatic once connected with hardwire kit but not for me at this point. This will be my opportunity to interact with Street Guardian's Support people in the near future although Parking Mode wasn't a priority for me when I ordered the kit.Checked each camera's aim with thru the wifi connection to my smartphone.Video's from the camera's are easily viewed on my Mac with Quicktime. The Street Guardian Dash Cam Viewer rocks as well with all its add-on capability such as Speed Graph, Speedometer, and Google Map with speed coloured route making on the map and more to explore.Overall I can highly recommend Amazon and Street Guardian SG9663DC.UPDATE:- I was me all along and the equipment at all. The Street Guardian manual can be criticized as being a bit vague and I concur with that being a detail oriented person. I swapped the power leads around again for another try. The +Battery lead moved to the continuous power supply and the ACC lead to power outlet controlled by the ignition. Camera working as expected now when the car is started and the time lapse Parking Mode starts when the ignition is turned off. It is amazing what is captured in the default 10 minute setting. Haven't tried to trigger a G-sensor recorded event yet but will try soon.

Quality camera and lots of accessories!!
I never write reviews but I was impressed enough to leave these guys some feedback! Camera arrived with a TON of accessories and I'll update this review when I install it into my truck! I already like the sleeve thing for the cables this will blend nicely into my interior and it won't rub against headliner as this happened to me while using my old dash camera and now there is black marks all round my white headliner directly above may mirror.Anyways I had a small issue with the rear camera and these guys promptly replied to my email LITERALLY within 5 minutes and on a SUNDAY too! The rear camera had to be replaced but they sent the replacement priority and covered both ways of shipping. I've been shopping on Amazon now for about two year and I've never had such courtesy service. Great job guys!Camera also comes with two years of warranty so this was enough for me to pull the trigger and I'm very happy to say that I'm happy with my purchase! Will update once I get this install into my truck....

Awesome
Love it. The picture is so clear. It records front and back into separate files so in the recording you donβt get picture in picture but actually get the full image.
