Great hitch, but be careful—
First and foremost, this is a very well made hitch. I’d buy it again, and I’d recommend it to anyone that needs a WDH.My one and only complaint is that you have to assemble it, and the torque specifications are 320lbs on a couple of the bolts. I broke my back trying to tighten them, and now am in the hospital in traction. But my wife and family have really enjoyed the new camper and the hitch makes it pull like a dream. Which is what I’ve been having here in the hospital. Nice dreams of camping. In all seriousness, if you don’t have a torque wrench that will adjust to 320lbs, or you cannot buy this pre-assembled, then find a neighbor or your local mechanic to assemble this for you. It’s heavy and though I didn’t actually break my back, I did injure it enough to require a few trips to the chiro.

I wish I had purchased this sooner!! No more driving fatigue!
I purchased the equalizer weight distribution hitch 16,000 pound capacity with 1600 pound Tongue weight capacity. I drive a 2006 Dodge ram 2500 Cummins diesel. I am pulling a 29’x8.5’ ATC toy hauler. When it is fully loaded with a four seat razor and two dirt bikes and fully loaded with water the trailer weighs 12,500 pounds and tongue weight is 1600 pounds.BEFORE: I thought my truck would do just fine since I do have airbags. I never did have any trailer squat. However after putting several thousand miles on the trailer this summer I did notice being extremely fatigued after driving any significant distance with a fully loaded trailer. On some roads with poor surfaces my trailer would start to sway and I would almost be white knuckling while driving. There’s no way I could ever look at my phone while driving. There’s no way I could drive with No hands and a knee. I had to exert almost all of my energy into staying between the lines. If a big truck would come it would suck my trailer and I would watch it sway over the dotted line into the other lane. I began dreading long-distance driving with the trailer.AFTER: I just did a 600 mile trip. It was amazing at the difference this hitch made. I pretty much drove the entire time with just a few fingers on my steering wheel. I could steer with my knee if I needed an extra hand for a minute. And I even checked my phone a couple of times. There was no driving fatigue after using this hitch and this was a 7 hour drive. I could not give enough positive reviews and I highly highly recommend this hitch to anyone hauling with a bumper pool. Even if your truck is really heavy duty it will make a big difference.Install of this hitch was actually quite fun as well. You do need a very heavy duty torque wrench as you have to torque some of the bolts to 420ft lbs. I did indeed purchase one of them and now it is sitting in my toolbox. There are a bunch on Amazon and I went with one of the cheaper ones that got good reviews. It took me about two hours to set the hitch up but I think it was well worth it so I can know all of the adjustment variability. It’s certainly not difficult as long as you have a good ability to follow instructions and understand basic mechanical principles such as torque wrenches etc.Just some things that I’ve noticed is that if I were going over really rough terrain I would probably disconnect the weight distribution bars to allow greater articulation with less stress on the hitch. But for the most part I leave them connected all of the timeI’d purchase this hitch if I were you!

Must have
I think this is a must have if your towing large weights on a ball. I drove a 30' cargo trailer probably weighing around 10k 4500 miles. I had no issues with sway. The wind would push the trailer but the sway bars would keep it in line. I honestly don't think I would of made it without the bars. My only compliant is the ball was not low enough to line it up properly with my trailer so the trailer was high in front. I see they have a different set up hitch that is lower than this one but I think it should come standard as many trucks are quite high off the ground. It is also should come with complimentary grease for your first trip.

Great hitch with everything you need.
The product description for this hitch doesn't make it really clear exactly what you are getting so I'll try to fill in some of the details I would have found important when making this purchase.1. The hitch is complete except for the ball. It comes with a shank, the hitch, and the 1200 lb weight distributing bars. It is shipped in two packages. One of them contains the bars and the other contains the hitch head, shank, and hardware. The shank was perfect for my Tow Vehicle/Trailer combination. I have an F250 4X4 diesel and my trailer is a Keystone Passport 290bh. If you level your trailer parallel to the ground and measure to the top of the ball coupler and then measure from the ground to the top of your receiver opening on your truck this shank can accomodate approximately three to four inches of difference in either direction. (These two measurements should be within 4 inches for this shank to work.)2. The ball that is suggested along with the hitch on Amazon's site works perfectly. It is the Curt Manufacturing 40041 2 5/16" Raw Trailer Ball. If you don't want to get this ball, just make sure the shaft diameter of the ball you get is 1 1/4" and the shaft length is no longer than 2 5/8".3. The ball needs to be torqued to 450 foot pounds. I took mine to a local tire and auto center and they did this for free without an appointment. It took about five minutes. I was willing to pay for this, and even if you do need to pay the cost should not be much.4. On other sites I have seen complaints about the hitch being noisy. I followed the instructions for lubrication and lubricated the sockets on the hitch with bearing grease. I did not lubricate the bars where they make contact with the L bracket. It actually seemed quieter than my old Reese weight distributing hitch with chains and no sway control.5. Setup is easy and the instructions are very clear and concise. You are told what measurements to take and what to do depending on those measurements. Examples are provided as well. In my case, when I followed the instructions, I ened up with a perfectly level camper and a tow vehicle with the correct front wheel well height on the first attempt. I spent plenty of time reading and understanding what I needed to do, but it probably only took about an hour once I started turning wrenches to have a perfectly setup hitch.6. Performance. The hitch performed beautifully. It was a windy day when we towed our camper home from a recent trip and there was no sway. The steering in my truck is a little loose and the truck actually drives better (straighter) with less effort towing the camper with this hitch than it does completely unloaded. Our camper is also 33 feet long and is therefore prone to sway in the conditions we encountered.7. Other possibilities. I chose this hitch because it has a great reputation and is widely recognized as being able to control sway on long trailers like ours. The Reese Dual Cam was also a strong contender and I cannot really comment on it. There were just some reviews that indicated it might be harder to setup with one user even mentioning using feeler gages to get the cams in the perfect position. That reviewer indicated that without being that careful and precise he/she could tell a difference in performance. At any rate, others will likely disagree with that assessment. It did sway me, however. If you're looking for a good weight distributing sway control hitch, my experience says that from a purchasing, setup, and performance perspective you really can't go wrong with this one.

Great hitch setup
It has several adjustments to make it work for all setups. The brackets provided will work for up to a 6" trailer frame. I had to order larger brackets, but it worked great once I had the right brackets.

The Equal-i-zer 90001200 is the 12,000 lb model (up to 1200 lb tongue weight). Works well pulling my bumper pull Toy hauler. You do have to assemble the hitch, but that's true of a lot of things purchased now.The kit comes with everything you need except:BallSway Bracket jacket (optional part that help reduce some noise http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B007HRJNIEA lubricant is also recommended for the hitch ball and a place or 2 on the hitch itself (reduce noise, wear)http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B007HRGZDKEqual-i-zer Ballhttps://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B007HRKBNKNote: When mounting the ball to the hitch you'll need a 1 7/8 socket and drive (typically only available in 3/4 or 1" drive sets) and there is not a lot of clearance for the socket.Amazon (or a certain CDN Auto surplus store) sells the socket (and drive) you'll need to install the ball hitch for much less than the specialty Equalizer socket.

Solid unit
Purchased as a gift for my son who has just purchased a 30ft travel trailer. He is super happy with it. Only complaint was trying to locate a torque wrench heavy enough to meet the installation requirements. Rented one cw with 1 1/8" HD socket at a local rental shop.

Simply awesome...
Purchased on the advice of someone who has far more trailer experience than myself. Easy to install and setup, definitely makes a difference is towing. Hitch is fairly heavy is the only con. Worth it's weight in performance however!

Works
My 28 foot Jayco trailer had a lot of sway even with an equalizer hitch and sway control so I installed this, the sway went away and even with a crosswind and passing a semi truck I had complete control. Recommended
