Hummingbird Glass Straws 9 inches x 9.5 mm Straight Reusable Straw Made with Pride in the USA (amber)

I got a glass straw because I don't want to use plastic in my food/drink items anymore for health concerns. I was hoping replacing the silicone straw that came with my silicone tumbler would help take the weird taste out of my water. I also don't really like the squishy texture of silicone straws.This glass straw works perfectly. It successfully cut down on the silicone taste. Because it fits tightly in the silicone lid, there's no sliding or potential for it to fall out. I've knocked the tumbler over several times and the glass has knocked against a few things, but it hasn't fallen out, chipped, or broken. I've hit it against my teeth a couple times too, but it doesn't happen often and it hasn't caused any damage. I simply use a straw cleaner on it and it's a breeze to clean.Occasionally I notice it's harder to drink through the straw and I've discovered this happens when the straw hits right up against the bottom of the tumbler, so I just pull it up a bit and it fixes the problem. I had this problem with the silicone straw too, so it's not because of the glass.

I'm impressed. These are thick, strong, tempered (?) glass with carefully rounded/smoothed edges. I've never risked dropping one, but they stand up to clinking around in the drink glass just fine, and they go into the dish washer with no problem. They aren't "delicate" at all...they have some decent heft. I've only needed to use the brush for cleaning occasionally. If you just drink soda or juice or whatever, you can soak the straw to remove residue and then run it through the dishwasher. If you drink something like milk, you'll need to brush it. Anyway...good money. No more silly plastic straws in the landfill.

Super fast delivery and great customer service! My order of two glass straws arrived carefully and securely packaged. They are made of thick, strong, Pyrex type glass with edges that are smooth and rounded. I originally ordered Hummingbird straws because they are handmade in the USA and the price was right, but to be honest I would order Hummingbird again at twice the price due to their quality and workmanship. Once you drink from a glass straw--especially a well-made, beautiful glass straw like Hummingbird--you will never go back to plastic. Everything just tastes better! And what an elegant way to stay hydrated! Although a quick wash with hot soapy water is usually enough to keep them clean, the included brush keeps them sparkling should you use them for milk, juice or smoothies.

I'm currently trying different types of drinking straws, silicon, stainless and glass. My favorite is glass then stainless with a silicon tip. Hummingbird glass straws are durable and easy to clean. I have not put through a dishwasher cycle. I prefer to hand wash. It fits perfectly in my RTIC 20 and 30 oz tumblers.

Only used it once so far for my green smoothie I've started drinking recently. Straw was just long enough for my 22oz LifeFactory bottle (cap off). No problems with suction (i.e. didn't have to use excessive force) and super easy to clean. Wish it came with a protector or something for storage but still seems sturdy enough so far just placed into a mesh divider in my utensils drawer. Box was crushed to the point where it looks like it had to be taped shut again and even the fairly hard cardboard container the straws were in was somewhat crushed at one end, but straws survived undamaged.

They came packed well, with a nice cleaning brush, and are good quality, with no discernible flaws. The straws are 3/8" wide externally, with the "wall" of the straw a little over 1/16" (maybe 3/32") thick. So your overall opening in the center is 3/16" across. Love the length (9 7/8" long). I thought they would feel "colder" with a cold drink, but they don't.

Wow! I just got mine today and it’s beautiful. I have other reusable glass straws but this one you can tell it’s very sturdy, heavier, and thicker so I think it will last longer then the other ones. I am going to order more of this brand.

These straws appear to be well made, and the glass is quite thick, so they're not as fragile as other glass straws. The length is perfect, but the opening is not quite large enough for some of the smoothies that I make.
