This is a cool piece of art...
I decided to make this as a gift for someone. It's really fun and a super cool piece. Like some of the previous reviews mentioned running out of certain colors... it's possible- but I didn't wait to find out. I purchased several metallic and pearl paints (blues, silver and black) and substituted those for where I thought there might be an issue. For example, the unnumbered areas were supposed to be black but I used my own metallic brushed black onyx for the largest sections. And because the hobby paint leaves it own interesting brush marks when it dries, I whirled and feathered some of the strokes to give it alittle extra character. The hobby paints also go on alittle more smoothly and cover better than the acrylics that were provided. Areas marked #22 (dark gray) which there were alot of those, I substituted a dark metallic silver/pewter color. I did this for several numbers and it gave the piece some personalized uniqueness. I'm almost done and it's looking pretty good. This abstract cat does take a lot of time with all of the detailing in it... so paint with patience.I've done quite a few paint by numbers and invested a small fortune in my own brushes as the ones provided with any of the kits I've purchased aren't the greatest. I found that the Craft Smart Black Taklon Liner Brushes worked the best for detailing small areas. They came in a pack of four and were also one of the cheapest at $5 for the pack.

Great activity for artistic tween...
We purchased this paint by number to give to a 11 year old niece who loves art. She was so delighted with the paint by number and said she really enjoyed painting the kitten. Would recommend this for someone looking for a fun gift for a tween, teen, or adult who's interested in art/paint by #s.

Very detailed.
Very, very detailed. I love it, but it's not for everyone. Had to also buy some magnified glasses, but that's ok. Just know, you probably can't do this without them. Otherwise, exactly what I ordered.

and the paints are not the best of quality
I live this paint by number! My only 2 issues are the wrinkles would not come completely out of the canvas, and the paints are not the best of quality. Many coats needed on a few colors.

I love the final outcome
I love the final outcome, but I did run out of the background color. I just bought a dark grey and finished it with that color. It still looks great!
