Folktale from Africa
This classic folktale from the Igbo of Nigeria explains how the sun and the moon came to be in the sky. The simply words and repetition make it a wonderful book for early readers. The illustrations make an attempt to portray the carved masks and costumes used in some traditional West African dance. This book was perhaps the inspiration for the animated movie that toured some planetariums in Japan in 2010. A lovely story for multi-cultural education, picture book study, or for environmental messages, this book has been adored by generations of readers.
