I have the A6 and A7. I would give both of those lights 5 stars. They are incredibly bright for their size and weight and have decent run times on lower brightness levels. While the A8 has those features and a lower low it also has PWM (a strobe effect) on all levels but high. This is probably a result of the lower low. PWM isn’t always an issue but the rate here is much too low. Even relatively slow movements like waving a hand cause the strobe effect. This may or may not be an issue for you but I think it turns a fantastic light into a mediocre one. Hopefully, Rovyvon will correct this on future releases.

Vendor 'digitaviva' is selling this light at it's 2nd Generation price point, but it is NOT 2nd Gen. Rovyvon's 2nd gen A8U has nearly THREE TIMES the battery life, improved button profile, constant-current (no flicker), and is at least 100 lumens brighter on High (for both Nichia and Cree), with two additional modes added to the accessory lights (low/high for white, additional signal flash for red). It also has an easier-to-use usb charging port with better connector compatibility.This vendor wants you to pay more and get less. Do yourself a huge favor and DON'T BUY THIS.
