I like the book
I'd never heard of a Bento Box lunch. The book is full of ideas for interesting and nutritious lunches, including themed lunches. Sherrie also provides information on daily requirements of different food groups, for different age groups. The other thing I liked is the section on organizing tips for your lunch center. I think this book would be helpful to anyone who does, or is thinking about doing, Bento Box lunches.Someone mentioned that this information could be found online in short order. These days, most anything can be found online. But when someone puts the information together in a helpful way, it becomes a valuable resource.

More of an explanation book than book of menus
I was hoping this was a book of menus, but it is more of an informative book of what goes into bento lunches. I also would have preferred the photos to be in color (like the cover) to get the full effect.

A solid resource
I found this book to have a lot of very good information about what to put in a bento and how to keep things interesting. I make bentos for myself, not kids, but I have a lot of trouble thinking of things to put in them, since most books are filled with "do this with rice and then do that with rice and then make this sandwich" and I'm low carb. This has a great deal of ideas in one easy to grab book. It's not for the advanced bento maker, but it's certainly a very good resource for those just getting into it, especially ANYONE packing lunches for kids. It focuses a little more on new and interesting things to put in, as well as nutrition information than on presentation, but this is entry level, not making color-accurate pokemon. There is also a good section or organization, with some solid ideas on how to make bentos quickly, instead of ruffling through the "etc." drawer to find the shape cutter you want. I'd have liked a little longer book with more detail, but that's nitpicking. In response to the other reviewer who said you can find this information online, yes, a lot of it you can, but it would take a long time and a lot of work. This is one easy place to go to get good bento ideas, instead of surfing all day.

Love the illustrations
This book is worth it for the illustrations alone. On top of having tons of great illustrations there are plenty of links to other resources. While the book is geared towards those aged pre-school to age 10, personally, I think that kids of any age would like these lunches. Bento box lunches provide such a wide variety of foods to pack that anyone of any age is going to find these lunches appetizing.

I like the book
I like the book, very well organized, great ideas BUT: All the photos are in black and white no color. When illustrating food, color is the most important way to help readers visualize the examples. Black and White is great for 1951 but this is 2015. It could have been a best seller!

quick read
This was a great starter book for bento lunch packers. I had hoped for recipes but got inspiration to experiment with what my kids already eat, introducing new foods (in little portions!) a bit at a time. My son always comments on the "treat" I put in each day.If you're looking for a cook book, it is not for you.

some good ideas but... it's essentially an ad for the Yumbox.
I've had a little bento experience under my belt, but I got a few new ideas from it. However, it is essentially an advertisement for the Yumbox. That's the only kind of bento they use in the book, and other kinds are not even addressed. So I was a little disappointed to have paid even a small amount for what is really an ad.

Lots of great information!
I think the one reviewer must not have understood what type of book this was. The titleof the book is "YUM! Healthy Bento Box Lunches for Kids" it doesn't say recipes anywherein the title. This book is exactly what the description says that it is: handy digest guide ofcreative ideas for parents of preschoolers and primary grade children. It explains what a bento lunchbox is, organic choices, healthy fats, creative menu ideas, healthy portions, food groups, solutions for picky eaters, organization of your lunchbox tools andcontainers, several lunch examples and directions, and the author also includes many links formore information.I think that this is a well layed out little book and the author has done a good job ingathering and formatting the information.

Good for guidance
A good book to help guide you in preparing a balanced meal for children not that many complete lunchbox ideas but lots of information on how to make a balanced meal.

Schade.... :-(
