Reincarnation Blues: A Novel

self described “deep thinkers” anyone with humor, this one’s for you
This book caught my attention in the first few lines when dude gets eaten by a shark. This begins the mind bending but surprisingly easy explanation of reincarnation. Mind bending, check. Funny, hell yeah! Check. Love story…. Eh…Didn’t know how they were going to work in a love story revolving reincarnation, trying to get it right, and ultimately wanting to spend the rest of eternity with death. Making that work makes the book. I tend to steer away from love stores, but the gift the author uses when writing makes this one of my 5 favorite books if all time. Those who don’t know me, (that statement probably doesn’t signify importance) but for those who know me, it still probably don’t get it. But that’s the beauty of this books and all books. Not everyone has to “get it” my top five is significantly different then my neighbor’s top 5 and that is the beauty of authors and literature as a whole. If one story can impact one person, that is all that matters at the end of the day. Why I got from this boo, my takeaway: love the one worth loving and fighting for while you have the chance. No matter who you are the chances are not unlimited. It your love is true it will bend limits and always bring you back to where you are supposed to be.

The ending to this was beautiful
I laughed, I cried. This book was incredible. And I am a better person for having read it. It means so much to me after having finished it. It took me a while. I put it down, but I'm glad I came back to it. I finished it right on time. This was amazing.

Interesting writing style, intriguing.
I enjoyed the book. It was recommended by a friend. Another friend did not like the writing style and stopped half way.I personally liked the writing style and how the story comes together over time. The writing seemed a bit graphic at times, some might not like that, but it's not unnecessarily graphic if that makes sense: it wasn't too much.I'm not an avid reader, but I do recommend the book.

Bitter, brutal & beautiful
A vast catalogue of the experiences of life; this book broke my heart and then stitched it back together with no anesthetic.

A Decent Attempt with the Concept of Reincarnation
Reincarnation is a central tenet in the new spirituality and a concept rich with possibilities for a novelist. The author Michael Poore shows he has a handle on some of its implications. Reincarnations do not follow linear time so lives can jump back and forth across centuries and millennia. Spiritual evolution is measured by experiences that involve mastering virtues such as patience, service, and unconditional love for self and others. With clever humor and great imagination, Reincarnation Blues follows one soul named Milo through many different lives, with most of them presented like a short story. And therein lies the biggest weakness of this book. These short stories are not integrated or synthesized, although the character Milo does have vague memories of some other lives from time to time. There really is no clear character growth or lessons learned from one lifetime to another. The soul evolution or progression is not at all evident. Then suddenly, as if the author seemingly has run out of ideas for other lives and eras, Milo reaches perfection by helping humanity at large. The book is peppered with insights about the meaning of life and the nature of the afterlife. I hope other novelists are inspired to use the reincarnation concept and the new spirituality literature about the afterlife and use their possibilities of historical fiction, science fiction, and future fantasies to produce a better example of character development. Any recommendations?

his one true love who happens to be a simple girl named Suzie ...
“Outside, the afterlife remained the same as always. Earthlike, and also dreamlike. Days came and went. Streets changed direction. The balance of Heaven and Earth followed its own inscrutable schedule. Clouds flew. Rain fell. The moon changed.”Milo is known as being a wise man down in the Florida Keys, that is until he is eaten by a shark in the opening of this novel as another one of his lives is lost. However, that’s not such a big deal when one is given 10,000 lives; the catch is that an individual must reach “Perfection” before this cycle of reincarnation can end. After he is consumed by the shark, Milo is met on the other side once again by Death, his one true love who happens to be a simple girl named Suzie who dreams of opening a candle shop. This is a truly remarkable love story of a man’s journey as he is born time after time, failing to miss something in each previous life which prevents him from reaching his enlightened self to forever be with Suzie. The reader is taken on this ever-changing journey with Milo with each life he is given, spanning from being a bug in Ancient China to a juggler deep in the desert, a family man in Michigan to musketeer in rustic Vienna. Right when you think a tear is about to puddle in the corner of your eye, the author has a way to change that tear drop to a faint giggle by his masterful manipulation of words.

Read it !
This book makes you laugh, think and see the world through other eyes (i.e the eyes of a beetle). There are many strange and beautiful stories in the future, past and in the (apocalyptic) present that often get you out of your comfort zone and leave you thinking for hours about the essence or background of that story. That book is one great funny metaphor about life with many exciting political, social and spiritual views embedded in the strangest lifes that can happen to a man who falls in love with Death. Read it !

Un libro magnifico, scoperto per caso. Una storia d'amore e spiritualità, raccontata tramite una bellissima collana di vite, l'un l'altra legate. Avvincente, ben scritto, emozionante e spirituale: cosa si può volere di più?Fortemente consigliato!
